TBILISI, Georgia (AP) — Georgian police on Wednesday raided the offices of an opposition party and arrested its leader in an apparent attempt to squelch a wave of mass protests triggered by the governing party’s decision to suspend negotiations on joining the European Union.

During the past six nights, riot police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, who threw fireworks at police officers and built barricades on the Georgian capital’s central boulevard. More than 300 protesters have been detained since Thursday and over 100 people have been treated for injuries.

On Wednesday, the Coalition for Change opposition party said that police raided its offices and detained its leader, Nika Gvaramia. It shared a video showing several officers dragging Gvaramia into a car.

Georgian media reported that police also raided the offices of several other opposition groups and non-government organizations.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze of the Georgian Dream party said the raids targeted those who encouraged violence during protests in an attempt to topple his government. “I wouldn’t call this repression; it is more of a preventive measure than repression,” he said.

The CFN was informed of a case of werewolf syndrome in April 2023, in which a baby boy had gradually developed hair growth on his back, legs and thighs over the course of two months.

The scientists discovered that his father, who had been off work for a month looking after him, had been using a 5-percent minoxidil lotion on his scalp to treat baldness.

When the baby was no longer exposed to this drug, his excess hair went away and he was fine, the CFN said. However, very young babies exposed to minoxidil may be at risk of damage to their heart and kidneys.

After analyzing the April 2023 case, the CFN searched through the Spanish Pharmacovigilance System and the European Medicines Agency's EudraVigilance databases and found 10 other recent cases of werewolf syndrome linked to minoxidil in Europe.

In all of these cases, symptoms went away after the parent stopped taking minoxidil, but the CFN's information bulletin maintained that it was still a serious situation.

Putin's niece accidentally revealed the approximate number of missing Russian soldiers.

Russian authorities have received 48,000 applications for DNA tests to find missing Russian soldiers. This was announced in Russia's Duma by Russian Deputy Defense Minister, Anna Tsivilyova, Putin's niece.

Kartapolov, head of the Duma's defense committee, said this was "secret information," asked that "these figures not be voiced anywhere else" and that the information be removed from the documents.

These numbers are likely on the lower end of the scale of Russian casualties. There is a reasonable probability that the actual numbers are much higher.

Maybe I'm completely wrong about everything I'm going to say and in that case we can laugh about this theory I guess but here it goes..

Most people are only worried about if the VPN provider is keeping logs or not. But even if they don't keep logs you could still be tracked by anyone who can see incoming and outgoing connections to the VPN server.

This would be easier to explain if I drew some images but I hope you understand anyway with just text. What it looks like for these adversaries is:

1. they know your IP and who you are.
2. They see you connect to a VPN server.
3. They see VPN server connecting to many different servers and they don't know which one is you.

But when it comes to number 3, they could actually figure out which one is you.

Obviously, if you are the only person connected to the VPN server they will see that there is no one else besides you using it and then any outgoing connection from the VPN server must be you.

If there are just a few users. Maybe three users are just connected to the VPN server but not doing anything, just idle. Another user is spending time reading reddit. Then you connect to the vpn server and within a minute a new outgoing connection from the vpn server starts and goes to lemmy. Pretty good guess that is you from their perspective. And to make the guess even better, when the connection to lemmy ends, you decide to immediately end your connection to the VPN server. I'm confident this would be enough evidence in a court and then it's definitely enough for data harvesting and mass surveillance.

All this analysis can be done automatically with AI, even if there are hundreds users on a VPN server, the AI will over a larger amount of time (not just hours but days/weeks/months) collect enough data to be able to profile users and make good guesses which domains you are visiting even if the VPN prpvider doesn't have logs.
