This happens a lot in music. It's okay to listen to music that serves other purposes than art. Gatekeeping is ridiculous.

I'm a musician. I play more instruments than you can even name correctly. I can make a tritonus substitution without you even noticing. I don't give a shit if German Schlager Music is worse than country. If I want to watch Eurovision and enjoy myself and pay to vote for songs in foreign languages, I will do so.

You cannot stop me from enjoying stupid music.

Many places have roads markers every 100m. Or you can count the seconds from any fixed point and figure it out.

My Newt = Minute

Minute is a synonym for small.

Yes. It's down right scary to think about what the consequences of private ownership will mean.

In best case it will turn into a profitable business which means burning a shit ton of fuel in the atmosphere and leaving tons of garbage in orbit.

Yes it's impressive that it's possible, but is it less impressive if it means screwing up the option for others to launch anything in 50 years just because the richest man on earth right now wanted to earn more money.

It's a small step for a large corporation, but it's a large step backwards for humanity.

I'd rather see new technologies like the slingshot launches becoming successful than seeing SpaceX launching the same old dirty rockets over and over for profit.

Even he is pro-fossil despite his ownership of one of the largest EV manufacturers. I really don't think his motives are entirely clear. Looking at the Cybertruck I would argue that he's actually trying to destroy EVs, just as he caused distraction from public transport with his Boring company project. In my opinion, he definitely belongs to the second group, who is arguing and even doing things in bad faith.

I doubt their standard procedure is to give wrong food to customers and then lock the doors. Something else happened prior to what is told in the story.

Can you point at one person who thinks that?

Or is this whole thing just about making up arguments and then attacking them to sow division between people who would otherwise be united against fossil fuels?

... except that they didn't?

You introduced the Israel-Hamas war into this topic. The other poster said "none of the candidates will change that". You assumed that he defended the quote that you posted.

At no point did the other poster state which candidate they vote for, only that they didn't make their choice of American President based on the Israel-Hamas war.

Except for school I never went to any institution as a kid. No nursery, no kindergarten, no after school programs. Both my parents worked part time, so there was always an adult at home. For most my life I felt sorry for the kids who had parents working 9-5 and having to be in institutions and getting institutionalized.

I was well into my 30s before my wife explained to me why I was wrong. She was studying for these kind of pedagogical jobs, and while following her education on the side line, it really turned on a light bulb in my head: I was wrong.

While the home-raised method might have worked decently when I was a kid when more people did it, it would absolutely not work today. Most of my own issues throughout childhood and later basically also comes from not socializing enough as a kid. My own kids have been through the whole institution process because both my wife and I have had 9-5 jobs. Due to this, my kids are much better developed to tackle the world that they live in, and they have not lost any off the ability to think freely or anything that I previously believed was the negative effects of being raised in institutions. Of course there are some institutions that are better than others, but overall, their personel are a lot better educated to handle it than someone who has no education on this and only believes in "what was good enough for me..."

Even today, I sometimes meet people who want to home school their kids and such. While that might be a good idea in certain cases, it's almost always done for the wrong reasons and without regard to how difficult it actually is if you want the best for your kid.

Yes. Bicycle pedals for instance.

The odd left-threaded screws are called Linksgewinde in German. Knowing this, you can sort of figure the rest out.

Found at Brodega skateboards (Denmark)

I'm not affiliated, just found it funny.

A local skatepark held an official opening inviting Rune Glifberg and Nicky Guerrero to do a demo. The weather was tricky, but in between rain they managed to pull off a few tricks in the deep end. I didn't get a good photo of Rune.

(The 100kb limit on pictures is horrible.)

I am restoring an old chest and while removing a cover under the lid I found this label. As you can see, it's completely undecipherable except for "***halle & co." However there's another label underneath it. I wonder if I can separate them by putting it in water (like stamps off an envelope), but I'm afraid of destroying it if it has any value whatsoever.

The chest is made of wood and metal, but it's in a horrible state. Hinges and screws have been replaced prior to my owning, and the wood is damaged. I plan on restoring it, but would like to know it's history. Judging by materials and the label, I recon this is from 1900-1940s and American.

I'm trying to install Optifine on a Linux Mint Cinnamon laptop. Minecraft Java edition of course.

The game works and has been launched in version 1.20.1, but the Optifine installer keeps saying that I need run version 1.20.1 first.

Also, the installer is already pointing at the correct directory as default, but when I browse the location from the installer, I can't see or set the .minecraft directory manually.

What to do?

Now, I've been to many concerts and even several blur concerts, but this one felt .. special. Even better than the Hyde park concerts 10+ years ago. Anyone else there?

To me it was like watching their proudest achievement and also delivering on it. Maybe I'm just in awe of the brimfull Wembley stadium shouting along on Park Life, but it definitely felt like this was the final grand stadium concert. I've seen Aerosmith, Green Day, Guns'n'Roses and other larger bands on a full arenas before, but those didn't even come close to this. Despite everything being extremely professionally and on time, they managed to break the wall between the stage and the 90000 in audience.

I'm not even a blur fan as such, but I do acknowledge that their contribution to music is way way underappreciated, or maybe it actually isn't?

The warm-ups sucked, but I think those were a local thing, but the main band really came across brilliantly. I dunno..this was beyond just great, and I have no hopes of ever seeing anything this grand again.

Nej nej nej, prøv lige at høre her:

My neighbours won't appreciate it.

Full recap of the four day skateboarding event CPH Open 2023 by Flatspot Magazine.

My Formula 4s got flat spots, sounding like a moped when I ride the bowl. I'm looking for larger sizes from 56mm upwards. I need mostly for very smooth surfaces and high speed, but sometimes also rougher concrete. I don't have a need for ultra soft wheels.
