Of course portal and portal 2 are fantastic games but I would never recommend them to someone who has never played a game before. One of the reasons it's so good is because it subverts the tropes and even mechanics of other games.

I was that nerdy kid that would tell anyone at every possible opportunity that thier iPhone was locked down garbage and they should switch to Android. Now I find any kind of vocal brand loyalty incredibly cringe as it just reminds me how I used to be when I was 14.

You've heard of "Bike Shedding" (wasting time arguing about a pointless tangent)

Now get ready for "Bat Shedding" (wasting money arguing about a pointless tangent)

I'm a .world user just because it had a lot of users when I signed up, but I've seen some hate thrown at it recently. Is there a legit reason I should consider switching to another instance, or is it just hyperbole? If I did, would I be able to migrate my account and its post/comment history (not that I really have much of a history at all, I just lurk mainly) or would that be stuck on .world forever?

Take a look at the Wikipedia page for Project 2025. It's basically the Republican manifesto for everything they want to to "acomplish" now they have power. This time, Trump has the House, the Senate and the supreme court on his side so there's nothing that can stop these plans.

It reminds me of that one Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode where they read that "no sword can pierce the heart" of a particularly powerful demon that shows up so they just go to a military base and steal a rocket launcher

Maybe because we get like 5 sunny days a year compared to the 2 they get up north?

Same situation here! I was a vertical tab hater for quite a while but I'm really liking Zen's UI so far
