It would be fun to have an option to hide posts I’ve already viewed. In case of an accidental click it would also be nice to unhide them.

I just saw a post about this on the Lemmy Connect community and thought it would be a pretty neat feature for Memmy as well. Something to filter communities by keyword. E.g. block any community that has “meme” in the name somewhere. It would work differently from the other filtering types, I believe.

Side note - how exactly does Memmy’s keyword filtering work? If I block the word “politics”, will it block any post that has the word “politics” in the title/body? Or will it even block a post if somebody went in the comments and commented “politics” somewhere?

…and while I’m here. From what I can tell, after blocking a community, there isn’t any way to unblock it (at least easily). Is there a way to implement this, or is it already here and I just don’t know how to do it?

I want to collapse comments, not posts It’s the most annoying thing in the world trying to click a link in the post body but then the entire post collapses

Just wanted to suggest a helpful feature idea: it would be more intuitive to access the list of subscriptions (when already in the Feed) by being able to tap the Feed button again to access the drawer rather than having to tap all the way up in the top left corner. Then, when you want to go back to feed, simply press the Feed button again to close the drawer and be back in the Feed.

Not sure if this is the best way to share this but I will educate myself based on the replies here :)

Thanks to the dev and everyone here for making this such a delightful experience 🐭

Long pressing on a link in a comment doesn’t bring up a contextual menu of options. Instead it opens a full screen sheet view with the text and no other controls. This locks user into a view where you have to force quit the app.

A normal tap on the link in the comment opens the link as expected.

Is there any word when the pinch zoom feature on iOS Memmy will be fixed? I really love just about everything about this app, but the pinch zoom is just so janky and pretty much broken. I see lots of features getting added, so why has this basic feature not gotten the love it needs?

I’m trying to filter out an instance, yet even with the instance listed in the filter section, I still see posts from them in my All feed. Am I doing something wrong?

This would be helpful in making it more obvious which account I'm using.

Inn B love the app, been using it since the original beta came out on test flight.

My feature request is to either mark everything in the inbox as read, or have it automatically moved to the all section in the inbox automatically after reading and closing the inbox to go back to the main feed.

In the image below, none of these comments need replying to by me from my comment, but to clear them I have to login into Lemmy from my computer to mark them as such.

Before anyone asks why not use the phone browser, for some reason I can’t login to Lemmy on any of my phones mobile browsers. This has been brought to the attention of Lemmy devs via bug report.

I don't know if such an option exists, but if it does I have not been able to find it, and I think it would be a very useful feature.

Would it be possible to implement a default sort on community pages?

Like the default sort for my feed is Hot, but if I go to a community page I like to sort by new. But it defaults to the same as my feed sort (Hot).

Thanks!!

Sorry is this has been mentioned before.

I’d love to be able to have my system browser of choice be used while I am still in the app. It’s terribly annoying clicking on a link and leaving Memmy to view it.

As an aside, I love y’all’s app and appreciate you. Keep us posted on when you add your tip jar, eh?

Memmy already has the feature to tap the top title bar to scroll all the way to the top. What would be nice, something Apollo had, would be the ability to go back to where you scrolled from, if you simply tap again. This is a huge life saver for the inevitable times where you’ve accidentally tapped the top, and therefore lost where you were in the feed/comments.

Seems like everything is shrunken in my compact post feed in the latest version. Even at the largest setting the font is tiny.

Anyone else seeing this?

92

I see this often - where I have a response to a comment that hasn’t loaded. Do I have the parent commenter blocked? Or is this a bug on the platform or possibly the app?

93

Not sure if this is a duplicate, apologies if it is, but one thing I really appreciated about Apollo was that when I blocked a subreddit, it immediately was removed from my feed, and I also was not set back to the top of /all. Not sure how annoying this would be to implement, since it would probably require refreshing the feed with the new block in place and finding the right “scroll depth” to jump back to after.

Mostly I just want all of the random porn and things in a language I don’t speak that I’ve blocked to get removed immediately (especially the porn ones, since the bots seem to spam those communities, so I’m more likely to run into a few posts in a row).

To be clear, I know I can block NSFW posts, but I don’t want to do that. I don’t mind seeing some nudes or whatever as I scroll, but when I run into a series of yiff or whatever from a niche community that I’m not into, and I block it, I don’t want to see it anymore, not have to rage scroll to get past it

I know this is the TestFlight version, so bugs to be expected however…

Is it me or have there been a bit more bugs lately? Perhaps I’m just unlucky.

The issues I have encountered:

  • Sudden crashes
  • Sudden freezes
  • Some subscriptions disappearing
  • Laggy with scrolling
  • Notifications does not work

Sometimes when I click on a reply it doesn’t come up exactly where the comment is in the thread and it can be hard to find.

I can’t open links to taz.de in Memmy. The part after the „!“ in the taz.de url gets truncated. The server reports a 404.

Example post: https://feddit.de/post/2395850

I‘ve also seen a lot of similar problems with 12ft.io links.

I don't really care about upvote/downvote count, it would be nice if there was a toggle to hide it completely

I recently tried out Top - 6 Hours for my default sort instead of Hot and liked it but felt I didn’t use the app enough and was missing things. Because of this, I decided to try out Top - Day. However, when setting it as the default sort or setting it manually on the feed page, it says there’s no posts. The same thing happens for Top - 12 Hours. Unless I’m misunderstanding, it doesn’t make sense for posts to appear in the 6 hour version but not the 12 hour or day version. I also tried a couple other Top timeframes and they seemed to work fine. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? I didn’t see anything in the list of issues.

I just tried to post something to a community on Feddit.UK; I managed to submit it to the wrong one (an unrelated Lemmy.ml community) twice via the Memmy app. In the end I logged into the website, whereupon it was possible to post in the right place after a number of error messages.

I’m quite certain that the correct community was selected in Memmy. The community that I inadvertently spammed was alphabetically before, but not the one immediately above, which is interesting.

Has anyone else experienced this?

It’s possibly a glitch.

I’m open to the possibility that I’ve been an idiot, but twice?

Thoughts please.

So at the moment, when you share a post, you get a link to the post on the instance the communities on. Obviously, you aren’t always sharing links with people that are also on your instance, so this behaviour is usually fine. But I have a few friends on my local instance, so it would be nice to be able to link them directly. Maybe having the options be Local/Remote/Ask, with a little options list each time if people want that.
