Actual users, myself included. Yes, I am on federated apps (here, mastodon, "bluesky", pixelfed, loops, peertube) but frankly the majority of people, and the content I consume, aren't.

小红书 has been a blessing. I've been learning Chinese before this but didn't really have a place to practice communication. Everyone on the app has been extremely friendly and welcoming of the incoming Americans. I've noticed the fediverse has been very quick to judge with no actual experience with the app (not targeting you)

Is it for everyone? No. But I've genuinely been enjoying my time there communicating with Chinese citizens.

This app is also great to dig into settings hidden to the user. My car hides the default about page so users can't activate developer options but you can still access it with this

These were all "before my time" and I grew up using them. It's called being broke

Sub-GHz frequencies

So what, it's 915MHz? Groundbreaking, truly. They've reinvented LoRA

I did this for a couple videos too. It's actually still a thing, it was just so time consuming for no pay that almost nobody did it, so creators don't check the box to allow people to contribute subs

Not OP, but I believe he means he restricted outside internet access to that device (restricted communications to the thermostats MAC address to other internal devices)

LG and Samsung TVs were already on my "do-not-buy" list with their ad ridden UIs, sounds like they're just getting worse. Only a matter of time before they require you to connect them to the Internet to use them

I've had my eye on this for a while, haven't dropped the dough on a PCB order

https://github.com/justLV/onju-voice

A hackable AI home assistant platform using the Google Nest Mini (2nd gen) form factor, consisting of:

a custom PCB designed to be a drop-in replacement to the original, using the ESP32-S3 for audio processing

a server for handling the transcription, response generation and Text-to-Speech from multiple devices on the same network

No problem! Google's naming gets confusing

Quick share isn't going away, the functionality to share apps in Google Play using quick share is

I'm still quite excited for matrix as well, but it's nowhere near the polish of Signal ATM and it's not something I'd want to be tech support for 15-ish people on
