A similar tactic is used by some phone service providers.

It will dump calls to an AI that pretends to be an elderly person. Since an older person is like red meat to a phone scammer, they will wait a long time for the "victim" to get ready.

Meanwhile the bot's script is to waste time. Spend a few minutes "looking for my glasses", some "oh gosh I think I turned the phone down, where's that button?", "HUH, what did you say your name was?". And asking the scammer to repeat themselves, etc.

It makes those kinds of calls less profitable for scammers.

I wouldn't be surprised to find such a project running on local AI, especially for text replies.

Cloudflare is bad and you should feel bad. DDOS protection does not justify this shit.

*sorry, by this shit I mean general cloudflare shittyness. Fighting AI is cool I just have a reflexive hate for cloudflare.

Why do you hate cloudflare so much? I dont like how much control a for profit company has over the web. But they have a lot of really useful stuff. I have switched my self-hosted stuff to cloudflare tunnels(and tailscale) because it was so much easier then dealing with nginx and certs.

I think the biggest thing I've seen are the privacy concerns over them getting such a large % of the internet's https traffic that it's essentially a man-in-the-middle (which includes your tunnel traffic).

Interesting choice to produce good off-topic content rather than garbage.
