• On v1.0.2, a new feature was added. It's an addition to the old "resolve posts to home instance."

I think Photon is the first third party client to implement the modlog.

You can access it from the site about sidebar/window, like the normal lemmy-ui. Or just go to /modlog.

It has feature parity with the lemmy-ui modlog.

Crossposts were also added recently.

Also fixed the infamous profile page switching issue.

UPDATE: Lemmy v0.19.0 fixes this issue.

A lot of people are having issues with image uploads.

TL;DR, this is an unfixable Photon issue caused by a Lemmy issue

Right now Photon does authenticated requests by sending an authentication header with the jwt of your account. This works for most stuff, except image uploads. Image uploads require a cookie, which can't really be done client side.

As a workaround, Photon will proxy your image upload to the photon server. (nothing is tracked, you can see at hooks.server.ts) However, this means all requests come from the same IP- which can cause rate limits

You can now re-order profiles from the accounts page. Click the profile icon to change the color.

Since v0.9.8, here's what was added:

• As mentioned, Profile re-ordering and re-coloring
• Mark individual posts as read
• Click your active account to switch to guest.

You can now sign up to instances on the photon client! If PUBLIC_INSTANCE_URL is set, it'll automatically take you to the right sign up page. Otherwise, you can pick the instance to sign up to.

1.0 will be out soon with full feature parity! Just a few more tasks on the list left before 1.0.

Tip of the day: you can also now see the icons and instances when searching for communities on the post page!

I just upgraded my instance to 0.9.7 and I noticed that links are displayed differently in the Card view and I'm wondering if it's intentional. Right now I see the post title, then the full link in blue, and the thumbnail below. Is this the new design?

From what i'm testing, the saved list is just displaying the saved post that are associated to communities on my user' instance.

Is it possible to look at this, and grab all saved posts / comments from others instances as well.

Photon is a web UI for Lemmy with a sleek design.

Photon v0.4.35

• There's now a markdown toolbar, and you can put images in it!
  • From now on, all updates will have screenshots associated with the posts.

• There's more sorting options!
  • A common complaint was that there weren't all the available sorting options. They weren't there because I couldn't find a way to make them look good. Then I realized, why not just use a dropdown?

Photon looks like shit on mobile, basically Walmart Sync. These are the only things I can think of:

• Use a better font instead of system font (Cantarell)
• Move sort options up into the navbar

(You may have to wait a few hours before this domain works)

Photon is now accessible from phtn.app instead of the horrible photon.xylight.dev!

This instance doesn't actually exist yet. I was wondering if I should make my own public instance with the domain lemmy.tips.

Currently this is hosted on lemmy.xylight.dev which is a horrible name.

Or should I instead buy the phtn.app domain for Photon instead of hosting a new instance? Money is tight, I can only pick one.
