Hi all,

I made this typst template originally to port my personal resume to typst from Latex. It tries to be a faithful port of the Awesome-CV latex template that I was previously using. Hope you find it useful.

I'm trying to keep a log of the time that I spend doing specific tasks throughout the day. Currently, the way that I am doing this is by constantly running a stopwatch and filling out a spreadsheet for the day — when a task is completed, I lap the stopwatch and add the task and the time spent on that task in a row in the spreadsheet. It does the job, but it is very tedious. Does anyone have a recommendation for an app that can do this for me? I would like it to:

  • Log the time constantly (when a task is completed, immedately start a new task)
  • Time a task
  • Allow naming of tasks
  • (optional) Allow categorizing of tasks with tags
  • (optional) Show graphics for how time is spent each day, and statistics on how much time is spent
  • The ability to export the data (e.g. CSV)

It would probably be the most convenient for this to be an Android app, but I am also open to suggestions for a Desktop (Linux) app.

I made wanderer - a self-hosted trail and GPS track database

Over the last two months, I developed wanderer. It is a self-hosted alternative to sites like alltrails.com or in other words a self-hosted trail database. It started out more as a small hobby project to teach myself some new technologies but in the end, I decided to develop it into a fully-fledged application.

Core Features:

  • Manage your trails
  • Extensive map integration and visualization
  • Share trails with other people and explore theirs
  • Advanced filter and search functionality
  • Create custom lists to organize your trails further
  • Chique design with a dark and light theme
  • Fully mobile compatible

wanderer is completely open-source. You can find the GitHub repo here: https://github.com/Flomp/wanderer

wanderer is still under active development so if you encounter any bugs/errors or have suggestions please let me know here or open an issue on GitHub.

Like i use an older version of android and every new app on fdroid works for me and keeping the main repo full of abandonware isn't a good idea and will hold fdroid back on being a good app store . And its not like the apps are deleted or anything if someone needs them for whatever reason they can find it on archive and not everyone have to load it all when using the main repo which is better for users and those who host mirrors as most of do use the newer apps instead of abandonware and Is there a specific reason they do this ?

I asked this on their IRC but i didn't get any reply and then i got logged out and IRC doesn't show previous chats is there any way to get in touch with them as i think doing this will benefit everyone . I don't have much experience using gitlab and i don't think that is the place to discuss things like that . Also if anyone could get in touch with them about this and keep me updated that'll be appreciated as i am trying to keep my internet accounts small and don't wanna make a github or matrix acc solely for this so if anyone could help that'll ve appreciated. Also does fdroid have any presence on lemmy ?

The old apps i was talking about from top of my mind :

Anysoft keyboard : malayalam, GL TRON, Open Wnn legacy, random ass chinese named keyboard idk how to type it , wifi keyboard, Tibetin keyboard etc. there is a lot so i can't type all of em out.

EDIT : I am talking about unupdated apps not old apps whuch are still updated.

EDIT : No one is asking to wipe the apps from all existence just merely asking to move them to archive where its more suitable and so all of us don't have to load all of it when using the main repositery .

I want this kind of app as I need to keep WhatsApp,UPI and few other apps.

I found some apps like blackbox,Sandvxposed, virtualxposed, etc. But almost all of them are dead by now.

I can't use shelter or insular as I have a Android Go and it do not have work profile. I just need a virtual space xposed, fakeroot, fakelocatian, etc can be some extra goodies.

how to find?

The discussion in this community (and others) often goes toward „where can I find [foss software] with [feature]?“

The answers are often similar. Sometimes its direct links, sometimes its a reference to the awesome list on github (why not forgejo?).

But many things are hard to find on that list and the - although repeating - answers are of varying quality.

elastic search for forgefed?

What if we instead had a (federated?) search engine for FOSS software with feature tags and PRs/Suggestions which features are in there but not mentioned yet. Basically like sepiasearch by peertube.

Also important: the current state of development, maybe user numbers and stars/ratings/comments. Because some stuff on the awesome list is borderline unusable if you‘re not really deep in tinkering.

Users are not the enemy

Considering that we are entering a critical phase for FOSS and walled gardens, we should do away with the RTFM approach entirely and embrace semi advanced users starting to use our programs. Although we shouldn’t take all of their shit, we should absolutely start taking criticism ok bad/unusable documentation of UI.

Thanks for reading. I hope my intention shows.

Hey everyone,

I've been using the fedi-block-api for some time now. It's been a really helpful tool for me in determining which instances of federated platforms I want to make accounts on by making it easy to see what an instance blocks compared to who it is blocked by.

While the fedi-block-api is open source, I very much do not like the people behind it. Reasons being that the source code was initially hosted on KiwiFarms of all places, and the source code license containing a racial slur.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

Love Gadgetbridge but the ui is less than amazing. Wanted to see if people had some ways they have exported the data to be visualized by another open source application?

Matrix 1.10 is here! We aim to release the specification once in each calendar quarter, and with Q1 wrapping up in a few days we’re due for this quarter’s release. It has been 5 months since the last release (Matrix 1.9) brought in some protocol maintenance for us though, and the implementation teams have been hard at work building the Matrix 2.0 stack concurrent to the Matrix 1.10 work released today.

A total of 9 MSCs are released in Matrix 1.10, covering a wide range of maintenance, Matrix 2.0 preparation, and features for clients to use. This post focuses a bit on the Matrix 2.0 front and what’s expected in Matrix 1.11’s release cycle, but read on to the changelog at the bottom for full details on the changes which make up Matrix 1.10.

Sup, I've been working on this project for the past few months and now it's finally finished. It's a MyAnimeList-based anime recommendation system written in Rust. It's still being trained on the background as I've only started the training today in the morning, so tomorrow, the results you get can change.

You can try it out here: https://anote.asudox.dev

Please give feedback!

Just missed a meeting today because I accepted an event on Thunderbird this morning, that should have synced to Nextcloud, and then to my phone running a calendar app from 'simplemobiletools'. Never made it. After I missed the meeting I didn't see the event on nextcloud, then went to look at the event on thunderbird, and now lo and behold its on nextcloud, two hours after it was over. Cool. Still not on the phone.

Anyone have a solid calendar stack they like? I'd like to reliably get from emailed invite to alert on my phone.
