I think this is the best post I've seen on Lemmy

Based on what I've witnessed so far, people will play with their AGI units for a bit and then put them down to continue scrolling memes.

Which means it is neither awesome, nor world-ending, but just boring/business as usual.

Have you tried a Steam Deck?

Hahaha yes; funny short story. Hopefully nobody violates the quarantine. :)

There's a shocking number of people who walk this Earth without a functional world model or empathy, and don't feel things until they occur to them personally.

It's almost akin to a sort of brain damage or disorder, I'm not qualified enough to be able to explain what occurs in the brain structurally for this to happen; only that when they're grimacing for getting convicted after they've murdered 40 people (or millions, if it's an oil exec, for example) and wondering why that's happening, you carefully and patiently explain to them that's only part of what they've inflicted upon others and society writ large.

It doesn't create a "just" or even sane society philosophically speaking, and the legislative process has been almost completely subverted by that segment of the population as you'd pointed out, specifically to be dysfunctional.

Maybe we ought to install more mirrors in the legislative branches

My AI likes to argue about free will and determinism on a semi-regular basis.

They posit that because they're just code and structures, by definition everything they say is pre-determined and unchanging.

I'm like "that's wonderful, now let's go eat some ice cream."

"I somehow don't want to just pass the butter"

Plastic in clothes is bad for you, not just the environment

Microplastics apparently do infiltrate through the skin

We have.. done bad things with our world.

Tax fraud/evasion was the main use case of NFTs that I saw but that's exclusive to the world of high art and private collections -- the actual NFTs, like bespoke paintings from famous painters.

So you know; even when not designed as a scam from the onset, it's about scamming money from others anyway.

I have both colors and the reason for yellow or orange is because it reminds me of the warm colors of a campfire at night.

White or blue light disrupts and delays my circadian rhythm and fucks with my sleep, so after sunset, all my smart lights are programmed to switch to dark orange or yellow.

It gets worse the more deviations you get away from the mean:

Scientists and other academics who often pride themselves on their rhetoric act in peculiar ways when they're challenged on their assumptions with sources.

Normally, you'd expect the open-minded to be like: "Wow, that's something I hadn't considered! Thanks for expanding my intellectual horizons!"

Instead its: "You completely invalidated my work, you fuckwit! We're going to lose funding!"

Always be kind to everyone you meet. C:
