I've been on Waterfox for years and see no reason worth changing for.

I have a certain potato-based experiment I'd be interested to know the outcome of.

Go on...

Oh.

I guess I was thrown off by the driver not actually smiling in the second frame. That really messed me up and wondered if there was something far more sinister underneath the detour lol. I'm thinking too much.

I don't get it.

Man, joke's gonna be on them if they dont keep up with the times...

Unbelievable. Linux sellers deserve the death penalty. /s (mostly...)

Rather, why are you unable to define it for yourself? It's not that hard. Helping things towards balance (like helping any angry, sad, or greedy person to be less so, etc., or trying to heal a physical or emotional wound as appropriate) is a fine start.

Oh okay, gotcha. I agree with everything you said, especially legalizing drugs, except this:

the evidence behind marijuanas medicinal benefit is shaky at best

At correct doses... (that's the kicker) https://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/medical-marijuana-faq

We have literally seen kids to adults during epileptic attacks be made to take cannabis, with massive, visible reduction in their seizures shortly after; no other natural substance can do this so fast of which I know.

The typical ∆8-/∆9-THC strains can also significantly boost appetite for people struggling with theirs. They strongly increase pain tolerance. They aid sleep (or they stimulate if taken in microdoses). They shut down anxiety (again, at correct, small doses, such as likely not when smoked—which is the absolute worst way to take it, or anything else for that matter).

I guess my point is that we know the harm that it causes already. There are specific fenceposts by which people should abide:

  • Pregnant women should do their best to never use it, obviously.
  • Unless dealing with a severe medical condition or emergency (like seizures), no one under the age of 25 should experience marijuana, due to addiction risk, psychosis risk, and the potential for permanent brain damage (even if minor; we could even argue for age 32-34 since that's really when the brain has truly finished developing).
  • Doses should be small and measurable, such as through edibles, oils, or maybe vaping—never smoking, ever.
  • It should not be taken recreationally; as a mind-altering substance, it should only be taken at home, ideally in the evening when one's tasks are done, and if there is a reason: the user is sick; or fatigued and has been battling insomnia and needs to ensure good sleep for a heavy, upcoming morning; or has experienced literal, physical pain; or is in the stress of a panic attack. Boredom is not a reason!
  • It is not a solution for anxiety because even when dosed correctly, it only blocks anxiety for the duration of the high, so it's just a Band-Aid; a permanent reduction needs to come from something more overarching, like potentially PMR (progressive muscle relaxation) or something else, like possibly psilocybin, depending on the circumstances.
  • Usage should always be tracked strictly, IMHO.

There's a whole ton of literature to back this all up which is why I think examining its problems is sort of spinning wheels. Compare that to the fact that it can prevent people from digging into heroin, etc. and I'd go with this stuff any day.

it's a miracle drug that cures everything and makes life better in every way.

A little off-topic but just for readers' information here: the miracle material out there is probably actually infrared light. I'm convinced that if God exists, He/It emits pure infrared light; even NASA uses red light panels to heal its astronauts' wounds faster: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/articles/22114-red-light-therapy

As for a miracle drug in the realm of mind-altering substances, it's probably psilocybin (or really psilocin if one wants to get technical): one single, well-designed trip can annihilate perfectionism or obsessions (and thereby depression or anxiety resulting from any such mental ruts): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psilocybin_therapy

And none of these are any more addictive than sugar, as far as I know from all the research that has been poured into them—certainly not worse than alcohol or nicotine.

Sincerely,
A teetotaler

Nice username lol. Anyway, if you're in the US, you could technically just stop paying... I think this January or so was when medical debt was restricted from affecting Americans' credit scores, so it'd just fall off after 7 years if you can withstand the collectors' attempts.

If it was then it wouldn't be so much more prevalent and widely available. Any argument made against cannabis, a federally illegal drug, because it causes harm should be triply made so against alcohol, a legal drug that has annihilated many more millions of lives than cannabis ever has or will.

I'm saying if you're (generic "you") checking for damage to try to make a case against it, you should be investigating a lot of other, worse stuff, not this.

It has been repeatedly verified to dish out mountains of less harm than alcohol does. That alone should already tell us where priorities lie.

It is important to be polite to as many people as possible* because staying generally on their good side to the best of your ability could connect you with people who could connect you with people who could connect you with your future lover or best bud (or even a person who could become a partner of someone you know, etc.).

*As much as you can tolerate, anyway...

Apparently, my phone (which is an intermediary across PCs) didn't sync properly and now I have a couple of sync conflicts of spreadsheets (specifically LibreOffice Calc's .ODS files). These are... kinda large tables I've got here, with multiple tabs.

Normally with .TXT files I can easily use VSCodium's file-comparison feature to instantly spot highlighted line discrepancies on both sides, but how might you resolve spreadsheet conflicts?

Is there no other way than to page down monitor-size by monitor-size in each file, Alt+Tabbing from one to the other and visually inspecting for changes every step of the way until you spot something (hopefully)? I can't think of any less-tedious way...

... apart from, hmm, I guess my own folly in not noting version changes at the top of each file. I guess I'm only used to doing that with actual code... but I may have to start doing so with all synced, regularly edited files...

Check your account; I'm not sure if this was targeted at me or if everyone got offered it, but I used the offer on Slice & Dice after weeks of repeatedly playing its demo and am loving it!

Man, I don't understand why Catfriend1 just puts a literal period or bullet point for the version notes. It always freaks me out into wondering if the account was hacked and if the app was compromised and would cause file deletion or something. This app has become too useful!

  3. Press the pencil-icon "submit" button without actually having edited anything

Expected outcome: nothing happens to the comment
Current outcome: the comment gets a pencil mark

I don't remember how I ended up doing step 3 (I think I meant to edit yet accidentally hit the "submit" button), but that was my observation of this fringe issue, anyway.

Expected behavior: the share panel should close

Current behavior: it doesn't, which sometimes confuses me into thinking I didn't actually tap the button

It was their first time experiencing VR and one of them said they could play QubeFall for hours! It's such a bummer that that game never made it out of its prototype stage.

If it's in the same line as the username, it gets overrun by the domain (for those of us who like to see user domains).

Darn, if not.

I've played some games for which I want to make comms, but I'd rather make them on a gaming-related instance like Lemmy.zip rather than my registered one. Is this possible or would I need to make and manage a second account on the target instance?

Or could someone there just make /c/FTL and /c/SliceandDice? Lol.

I'm trying to learn SikuliX, but the documentation is incredibly hard to understand. I'm trying to get it to simply press Ctrl+A just to practice, but this doesn't seem to work and causes it to type only a literal a:

wait(0.5)
keyDown(KEY_CTRL)
wait(0.5)
type('a')
keyUp(KEY_CTRL)

Ultimately, I'm trying to figure out how to get it to press Ctrl+Shift+A. Any help would be appreciated!

Or does it?

I know we were once nothing, but it is still terrifying and depressing to me to think about returning to this. In fact, as of late, I've been unable to not think about it: the loss of all experience and all memories of everything, forever. All the good times we had, and will have, with anyone or anything ever will totally annihilate into nothingness. All our efforts will amount to nothing because the thoughtless void is ultimately what awaits everything in the end.

The only argument against this would have to be supernatural, like another cause of the Big Bang or somehow proof of reincarnation, but if my consciousness won't exist for me to experience it, then what does it matter either way?

There is no comfort in Hell, either. The anvil of death weighing down, infinitely, on all values and passions is becoming unbearable for me, so I could really use any potentially helpful thoughts about this matter.
