And that's why I Codeberg now. I even give a few bucks every month to pretend I'm paying a subscription.

Please tell me because I have been using Windows at home and at work for more than 30 years and I still believe that most people only need Firefox and LibreOffice.
For the past whole year, yes. Hacker News is now 1/3 technology, 1/3 politics, 1/3 AI. It's annoying.
Yeah, it's very easy... as long as it's working, which it is not, at all.
And in a million years, people will still do everything possible except install Linux. Ubuntu is 20 years old and it was already a decent alternative to Windows back then. People are idiots and we shouldn't be sorry for them.
How is it in any way legal?
early nineties ... first time computer users
Computer were invented way before that, and I was there and don't remember seeing idiots like that in the past.
The only useful "AI" ever created is the one used in health applications to recognize certain patterns like cancer or organs. And it's only used to help doctors, it's not making decisions because it's not reliable. It's a quick sorting machine. But it's not a LLM at all.
And as others said: students were lazy but they had to work to learn something, now anyone can cheat at home and it will create an idiocracy in the next decades (and it already does with a few people around me, it's not a fantasy).
Every other AI is bullshit. But it still makes me feel good because if OpenAI can pirate all the books, I can keep on torrenting for free without feeling any guilt. Thanks ChatGPT!
GrapheneOS is weird. It's advertised as "privacy- and security-focused" but in reality it's a great OS for everyone, it's like a pure version of Android without being too tied to Apple or Google. You can use the Play Store if you have an account, or Aurora if you don't want one, and F-Droid is there for the weird stuff.
And what made me switch, it has fucking Android Auto to listen to the music in my car. It's a bit tied to Google but it's a huge bonus for me. And for work applications, the Google account is still available but sandboxed.
Is it like the Moscow Kebab, or the Egyptian Sushi?
Promiscuity is a word used by bullshit religious extremists.
It's in France and I guess everywhere else. Students can cheat for free and no longer need to do anything, why would they study anymore?
I've also seen a few young engineers using ChatGPT to do their job because it's easier than working. When I told them their code was bad (with mentoring and help, I'm not an asshole), they used another prompt that changed their whole code but it was still full of bugs.
We're doomed.
