I would ask what is the point of DRM that stops people from modding Resident Evil Revelations, a ten year old 3DS port, but clearly I don't make the decisions over at the multimillion dollar corporation so I wouldn't get it.

Combo of the embarrassment over the nude Chun Li incident, and (almost certainly more importantly) the desire to stop people from moding in their DLC to SF6, since there was media coverage of people modding in the outfit 3 DLC.

Doesnt explain doing it to old games tho really.

coomed so hard it pissed off a megacorp

Damn, the last time I heard of that happening, they gave me a lifetime ban from Walmart.

nude Chun Li incident

First I'm hearing of this, hilarious but god damn why did they have to come up with another reason for companies to try and crack down on modding.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 months ago

First I'm hearing of this

Blue jean baby. LA lady.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

People want awooga in games they paid for and just modded, the company is still getting the cash so what's the harm?

Are they butthurt over the Black Mirror thing?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I imagine its not the mod existing, its the public embarassment. Still dumb though.

Being able to cheat also removes any incentive to buy cheat, unlock and consumable item microtransactions

[–] [email protected] 29 points 10 months ago

You have to be a 60 year old Japanese executive to make sense of it

[–] [email protected] 25 points 10 months ago

Capcom has a storied history of making needlessly stupid decisions, even for a gaming company

[–] [email protected] 29 points 10 months ago

I play all of their games with mods. Garbage, trash, piss and shit all up the wall

[–] [email protected] 25 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hopefully it's easier to crack than Denuvo. But I guess new games will still have Denuvo anyway.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Portends badly. Capcom is one of my favorites, and I absolutely must mod/cheat in their games, for various reasons. One of them being, in recent RE games, they don't support 21:9 resolution, and the FOV is low enough to cause motion sickness for me. The REFramework mod fixes a lot of this.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

I also like being able to mod pants onto the trash fire they call female armor in their Monster Hunter games. Like I sincerely lost all interest in playing Rise on the switch since I wasn't able to do that lol

[–] [email protected] 19 points 10 months ago

I can't believe they don't have a real FOV slider yet. I think the in game one tops out in the high 70s or something? It's a serious accessibility issue for people who get motion sickness. I know they just lower the FOV to get better performance on the console versions but if you're already putting a slider in the game it better top out at 100 minimum

The enshittification will continue until profits on old ass fucking games improves.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 10 months ago

This isn't even about profits as these old games have long since been cracked open. This is just some Japanese corporate dinosaurs throwing a tantrum about dirty rabble disrespecting their precious intellectual property rights

[–] [email protected] 23 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Fuck, if they got rid of my "instantly gather all spiritbirds" mod from MHR I'll be pissed. It saved so much time!

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago

Yeah gathering birds gets old real fast

[–] [email protected] 21 points 10 months ago

The next Jimquisition is going to be fun I see.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Damn I might be mad at this if Capcom made anything worth playing.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Really? Theyve kinda been on a roll for me core game quality wise. SF6 has bad monetization but the core game is amazing. And RE4R doesnt even have the monetization problem.

Thats why this is crazy lol. Because theyve earned so much goodwill for most people, but between this DRM shit and the continual hellish monetization of SF6 theyve been ruining itm

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago (2 children)

It's so annoying that you have to buy in-game funbux in weird increments to get additional costumes. I only wanted Kimberly 3 but now I have leftovers.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It's intentional. Seriously governments should just ban funbucks (including bitcoin) all together.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 10 months ago

There's a note that the SF6 funbux expire after 180 days for players in Japan. Absolutely ridiculous

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

At least your impulse isnt to compulsivly want all of them lol. And the battlepass content too, though i gave up on that after i didnt get anywhere with the first one.

But yeah funbux suck.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The key is to suck at fighting games enough that the thought of playing multiple characters is overwhelming lol.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

Oh I am that already. I just want all the goodies anyway lol. Completionist brain does not mix well with monetization.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Never liked the Resident Evil games and the last time I played a Street Fighter game was probably more than twenty years ago. I can't remember the last time I saw a Capcom game that looked even remotely appealing to me.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 10 months ago

Nuke this account, mods. I'm using up that favour you owe me.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago (2 children)

same but I'll admit they almost got me with the big vamp mommy

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I watched my then partner play it at the time. The huge dom was a highlight but literally the only interesting part.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What games does a superb being such as yourself typically play?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago (2 children)
[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

Great bit. You got me there for a second.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 months ago

Looking foreward to your opinion on Baulder's Gate 3 in 30 years. homie-what-set-you-from

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago

Dragons dogma slander

[–] [email protected] 14 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Monhunt, dragon dogma, re, dmc, just to name a few.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

unironically cant tell if you're demonstrating capcom doesn't make anything good or trying to disagree

[–] [email protected] 10 points 10 months ago

I thought it's rather obvious as all the game listed is popular amongst gamer and I've never met anyone who doesn't like even a single game listed above.

Well, until today.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago

okay but when is Ed trailer already

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

i just want lost planet 3 (a real gameplay sequel to lost planet 2 that is, not the gears of war ripoff with admittedly kinda neat first person mech boxing that was the actual lost planet 3) and they pull this shit instead
