It was, years ago. It’s part of YouTube’s rentals/purchase feature now.

I wonder what the button on my TV remote will launch now? An error message? Or YouTube?

Exactly. This app has been dead for years. You could technically still rent or “buy” stuff from it for smart TVs and such, but it would also show up in your YouTube library.

This is just them actually announcing the app going away and making it official.

What a dumb take.

I get it; say something controversial for the clicks; MSGM gobbled up licenses, tried to expand faster than it should have, pissed away funding, got more funding, pissed that away, ruined special events, and fucked with other sims via exclusivity and we are just supposed to be like “give them another chance! BElieeeeeeve in them!”

No.

Trinis love our flag. Easy to draw, big, bright, simple 😃

It would be so fun if someone actually released a “cruise the streets” game like those AC mods. But modern, well supported, VR, with large servers.

AC is OK, but it’s getting more and more dated and it’s not super accessible.

Just finished building a TT02 for my kid and one for myself; so fun! We are waiting for our local track to reconfigure from buggy jumps to touring car flat track.

Sim racing.

It’s difficult to talk about it without people dismissing it as just a video game with a steering wheel.

I ordered the Bigscreen Beyond and am eagerly awaiting delivery. I love sim racing in VR (Index), but the headset weight is really uncomfortable for me; I hope the Beyond is as great as some of the initial reviews claim.

Agreed. I have been working so hard to get my young kids to understand file systems, directory structures, keyboard shortcuts, etc; all that stuff that just never gets learned anymore with all the iOS/Android interactions.

I’m building a new PC for myself in the next few weeks and if they want to continue playing Genshin/Starcraft2/BeamNG/Trackmania on my older PC as it becomes the “Family PC” they will need to sit with me and learn how to reassemble it, install Windows, attaching peripherals, and setup a few basic things.

That’s the price and that’s the reward.

Many of us grew up in a world where you had to figure this shit out or simply not have a working computer/piece of software.

Sounds like Apple may have forced their hand behind the scenes.

https://9to5google.com/2022/07/11/youtube-pip-iphone-ipad/

My initial experience is that it was missing, then tested, then removed again.

Since you don’t have premium and can still use the feature on iOS, that means they were forced to make it available in general to iOS users. It was off by default for me though, so maybe they made it work but just didn’t turn it on by default?

Someone else above was saying that Apple has rules about this, and another poster was saying that on Android you need premium for PIP. So maybe iOS did without it for years and then they were forced to add it for all iOS users regardless of the premium sub.
