Many thanks. May I also ask if there is an alternate frontend client or perhaps an android app for kbin ?

I think maybe OP doesn't like kiwi's UI/UX
- Create a free Nextdns account.
- Add some blocklists
- Use the private dns settings on your android to set the dns. (i think this feature is present in Android versions which are 9 and above)
Voila ! you have blocked ads without wasting your VPN slot.
As an added bonus you can also configure nextdns to block your specific phone vendor tracking as well.
If you are interested in trying different web browsers you can check out Fennec from F-droid or Brave browser. These are my go-to browsers on android.
Well, by "good" I meant general purpose, no NSFW, federates with bigger instances, consitent uptime .. etc.
I know 2 apps
- Milktea
- Kaiteki
Milktea seemed to work for me when I tried it when Firefish was still called calckey.social. kaiteki app just gave me a blank screen, so can't comment on that.
Anyway, I just use the web app if I use firefish.
Kotatsu is a good one, people often don't recommend kotatsu. Maybe that's because tachiyomi offers more features.
I use nextdns in 'private dns' options on my android phone to block ads. This give me the option to use VPN, which I wouldn't get if i use DNS66 or Adaway.
I have not used IRC extensively. But i have used nibl.co.uk (for anime) a couple of times when I couldn't find torrents.
Wow, i wasn't aware of this phone until I saw this comment. It reminds me of the Galaxy S5 active.
On my old phone i used Florisboard, it was pretty good and it's FOSS as well.
These days I use the samsung keyboard as I recently switched to a samsung device. The keyboard customizations are really awesome, if you have KeysCafe module installed. Not sure how privacy friendly it is tho.
I have not used kbin yet. Is there any feature that really makes it worth using over Lemmy ? I'm curious as I want to try it out sometime.
P.S - I use Lemmy through wefwef
If you feel like checking out something different, there's Kvaesitso or maybe mLauncher.
