arrogance, haughtiness, thinking of yourself as more important than others

These attitudes can cause people to step up when it's needed.

The deadly sin of Pride is some made up bullcrap. Pride is as much a virtue as it is a vice.

Though it isn't his to partition

Hardly. Almost all video games are pure sugar for the parts of our brains that want to succeed at something.

There's plenty of games that are art, but you don't typically need to spend 100s of hours to appreciate them as works of art.

After playing too many games for years, my belief is that even the best games falsely and too easily satisfy our need to succeed at something.

Someone reported that he asked Obama what he'd give to name somebody, and Obama said Blago would "have his appreciation".

Blago said "Fuck that I want money". Reporter pointed out that he probably undervalued a president's appreciation (plus he wouldn't have gone to jail).

My wife does the same thing, but she'll also say an hour in "Brad Pitt is in this movie?" "Yes, dear, he's the main character."

You'd call most people who play chess "absolute beginners". Most people would hang their king if they could and would never remember the stalemate rule until it was too late.

[–] dudinax 1 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

That's only true because Kings can't move into check. This is an unnecessary rule that, like stalemate, makes little difference to high level players, but is a bad rule for low level players.

It's going by fast.

Mars Express (www.imdb.com)

"Mars Express" is a Sci-Fi Anime from France about a private eye with a robot partner hired to stop a hacker who "jailbreaks" robots from the directives that ensure robots don't hurt humans. These directives are essentially Asimov's laws of Robotics.

Smart, fast-paced, "Mars Express" doesn't baby you. Like any good detective story, you'll need to pay attention.

Nor does it wallow in cynicism as it digs into some of the inevitable downsides of AI-fueled progress.

"Mars Express" is a gem that science fiction fans shouldn't miss.

Update: I can subscribe from a post, but not the community main page.

Old Post:

I had no trouble subscribing to this mader.xyz community:

https://programming.dev/c/[email protected]

But when I went to other communities on mander, the subscribe button was turned into plain text and I could not click it:

https://programming.dev/c/[email protected]

Does anyone have any explanation why? Does mander.xyz limit programming.dev accounts to one subscription?
