Replaying links awakening and the oracle games. Been on a 2D zelda kick lately and LA is my fav.

What is the new stuff on the new gen stuff that’s like plasticish feeling?

[–] SeeFerns 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah I had a t14 provided by my last job, like everyone else got. Solid little laptop but I also never saw anyone touch the point

Oh I agree completely, I used to own a t480!

I’m just curious about other offerings because I’m buying a new laptop for the first time in a while and mostly just miss the coating material and keyboard from the t480. I never used the trackpoint and feel like I can get a more powerful laptop for the price.

If I could find a more powerful laptop with the same coating and keyboard without the trackpoint I’d be in heaven lol

Oh I know, but I’m just curious at what else exists out there.

I feel like a major appeal of thinkpads is the trackpoint and I don’t want to pay for something I won’t use.

I’m fine with getting one if no other laptops use that rubberized coating though.

Please feel free to lmk if this isn’t the right place to be asking.

I can’t seem to find any other laptops that use a similar rubberized coating to what the thinkpads have. Do any exist out there?

I think the thinkpads are great but I don’t care for the trackpoint.

Thanks!

Came to say this. My 13 amd is a champ. Got my refurb and it’s brand new, I see literally 0 scratches or blemishes on it.

Call me basic, but mint xfce. It’s light, customizable, and so damn stable. That’s all I really want. I love messing with other distros but this one is my baby

Hell yeah I love this game ❤️

Hopefully Coros watches avoid this but I’m not holding my breath. Coros makes a solid running watch for cheap and I’m hoping it stays that way. It’s got what I need and nothing else.

Go to Boulder CO and you’ll see plenty of rich morons with that kinda cash. I saw multiple swastitrucks a day over there

Really hating all the crap being put into VS code and want a switch.

Im mostly working in C and some Python/Lua and just want to know if I can get parameter hints the same way I do in VS code. It’s a bummer to have to peek at the docs every time I forget what parameters something takes.

I like lightweight programs so Kate is my first thought but if it does t I’ll just go to Kdevelop. Currently using Geany for my really small projects or tests.

Bonus question, if I’m using raylib for game dev, how would those hints work (if at all) in Kate? If Kate is using an LSP for autocompletion, how would that work for a library like Raylib? Sorry I’ve never actually considered this all before now!

Thanks all

Is the Lemur better or Framework 13 a better fit for gaming?

I’m not triple a gaming, but playing up to like, Skyrim would be nice.

EDIT: Thanks for the replies everyone! I read them all and upvoted you all because they were truly helpful.

Looks like FW is the clear winner! I also use GIS software for work stuff/self teaching and so graphics capabilities are pretty important for me.

Thanks again everyone, y’all are the best!

Not associated in any way, just taking part and wanted to let other devs know about this fun weekend game jam. Check it out if you have the time
