What kind of healthcare you working in with the kind of commute? I'm good at my job nursing but I can't imagine that's someething people get flown in for.

Yes. Easy patch.

I mean, public transport is a fucking ton of money to start up, and anywhere outside an urban center it is not just a loss but almost a total loss due to distances.

I remember being in a meeting in grad school to discuss the school bus system as part of the student review of finances. We had a bus route that went to another town a good distance away, and it was nearly always empty or with like 2 people on it, so they basically said once the grant money is gone we will shut down this route. We can't afford to put good money into something expensive and isn't getting used.

I realize there is a lot about car culture feeding that, but it remains a massive obstacle. Switching from existing structures like parking etc to public transport? How? How fast? What do we do with that space? Who pays for it? I'm frustrated by the system but we can't just start from a blank slate, we have to work with it.

I get that, and I'm kinda trying to see how to best use my limited time in the mornings for workouts. I can't lift weights anymore due to joint issues, so I'm trying to keep the sexy legs I earned!

thats basically what I was doing at the gym, but the bikes with present modes don't have enough adjustability to fit me very well and my back ends up hurting afterwards. So I need to switch to using one of the dumb bikes with all the adjustments but no computer like what you see in a spin class.

That and my kids wouldn't stand for hours of exercise, I get like 30 minutes. I was just going indefinitely and keeping my rpm around 100, but I'm trying to mix it up

Basically do people use timers? An app that prompts you when to shift to a different speed or exercise/resistance? Watch the clock?

As title says, no idea how this might work. I found workout plans, but they are like "so many minutes doing this thing, then switch to the next thing" and I really suck at watching the clock when working out.

I like the classes locally but I'm not able to get to them with my schedule.

I think it's more cause of all the news coverage about underage kids working in meat packing plants lately.

Idk if there is a similar problem in other parts of agriculture, wouldn't surprise me.

Fair point, agribusiness is harmful in many ways.

That doesn't mean that someone can't say "X is More harmful than Y"

I imagine they could point to the many similar environmental harms and modifications down for meat farming

I agree this is likely to cause suffering cause relocating sucks, and there probably isn't shelter space for these people.

He has a valid point that the camps have a lot of negative impacts. I've seen fires started,l in my city, heard horror stories about the conditions that develop.

That said, I don't know how much better the alternative is.

About housing, I mean, it takes more than a few years to build the tens of thousands of houses needed, and every year the state assembly is doing more to help with building more dwellings and preventing local govt and orgs from blocking construction. I'm not thrilled about response but it seems like they're doing a lot to help with infill development. I'm not an expert, so feel free to correct me.

Vet here, also former libertarian, current father.

People smell bullshit, so ask genuine questions. If you have an agenda it wont work.

Ask about what kind of role he sees for government, and ask about situations you find troubling and what he things the solution is.

Ask about specific people you may know who are too underprivileged, young, old, infirm to be self sufficient and bootstrap themselves.

Generally give real thought to your opinions and ask him about his. You really can't change people by wanting to do it, you have to want to understand them first and then enter into dialogue.

Sorta. I'm a comfortable person expressing affection and my inner emotions with friends. I'm also often the one initiating the sharing asking how they are etc, and the physical touch. It's nearly always me initiating, so I'm kinda uncertain how it is in the other person's head. Obv not bad enough to recoil or ask me to stop, but maybe they're just a bit uncomfortable.

Yes. I want it more. I look at relationships among women where that level of physical affection is part of the connection and reinforces it and I want that. I only really have that with my wife and one close friend, who is a woman.
