Currently playtesting Mars Tactics, It's sort of like Red Faction combined with XCOM, in that it's about a worker's strike on Mars that escalated into a full-blown uprising, but it works on turn-based squad tactics combined with a planetary strategic & logistics system.

Idk why they give me an option to play as the bourgeois though, I'll never use it. Other than that, it's pretty damn great.

Seams neat.

  1. Age of Wonders 4
  2. Total War Warhammer 3
  3. waiting for Rogue Trader
  4. waiting for Baldur's Gate 3
  5. hoping that I can play Armored Core 6
[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm also waiting for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader as well.

Just finished Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I played the beta, the combat is refreshingly different (does not seem similar to the FFG Rogue Trader rules). I had so much fun with it, that I stopped so I dont spoil it when it comes out.

I'm still playing Dyson Sphere Program when I have time but it's been busy. I got my sphere mostly done in my home planet and have a sphere design in mind for my next but I need to get endgame white science on farm first before that. I think I'm actually starting to lose interest in the game which is fine sing I got a few hundred hours in. That's rare for my attention span.

My kid and I finished Mario Odyssey on this playthrough recently. He ended up playing most of the second half and was knocking out levels on his own. Can't lie I was both impressed and proud of him. He's actually currently working through postgame stuff now which I didn't even know existed.

I'm still not done with Antimatter Dimensions... I'm on the last mechanic and about halfway through it but I think I'm ready to be finished with it.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Noice. Dyson Sphere Program sounds 'ight. Right up my alley, even. Tbh, strategy games don't do it for me, but that one sounds good. Also, damn, Super Mario Odyssey is also a great game! Glad for your kid.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (9 children)

I have mentioned DSP in the past on here. Elevator pitch: if you like automation and fine tuning systems and machines and also like space and planets then it's worth checking out. It's Factorio... IN SPAAAAAAAAACE!!!!!

I've have issues with Mario games in the past(looking at you Mario 64) and I also think Nintendo kind of sucks with their more questionable decisions in the industry involving old games and online but I think Odyssey really is something special. The movement is great and the platforming is very approachable. It really does a lot of things right.

I'm currently playing modded TES V: Skyrim, and I'm about to complete the Dawnguard DLC for the 3rd time

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (8 children)

I've probably played Skyrim for 150+ hours over the years. Still never completed the main game lol.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I’ve completed the main story once

I’ve been playing a lot of Wii U Super Smash Bros. I can finally beat level 9s as a random character more than half of the time.

Not much since I've been away on vacation. I've been playing in the Lemmycraft server while listening to podcasts. Not really sure what to play next. I'm feeling some nostalgia for Fallout 3.

Playing Now:

Rimworld, again. Basically any gaps between any other games, I start up a new Rimworld campaign. My most played game of all time at this point.

Completed Recently:

Friendly Neighborhood: Survival horror game but with muppets. I initially dismissed it as a FNAF clone, but it is much closer to a Biohazard game. Fun, not long at all, which is a plus in my books these days. Might play it more later to get more endings.

FFXVI: Was okay, probably falls smack dab in the middle of my FF tier hierarchy. Definitely had some major issues with it, but it ended up exceeding my expectations in other areas. Story was interesting enough to make me want to see it through to the end.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Seems everyone is playing Rimworld these days.

I love me some JRPGs but haven't really played any good ones in a while. I do know Atlus is releasing a P3 remake and a Persona-like game next year so I'm suuuuuper hyped for that.

Also while not a JRPG, I'm really excited for Starfield. There are some other games I'm excited for but can't remember off the top of my head rn.

Playing ADOM right now, haven't played since I was in middle school. Its lightweight enough a potato could play it without heating up the room.

Haven't completed anything recently, its been way too hot to play video games.

I like Sandbox and rpg.

I've reached the point where I'm afraid to actually be done with Tears of the Kingdom. I suppose I actually need to so I can get Pikmin 4. I'm a longtime Pikmin fan so this feels like a fever dream actually having Nintendo do another big push on the series.

Also intermittently playing New Pokemon Snap. Shameless plus, but sub to [email protected] and see pics from my playthrough and add your own.

In the retro category, my consoles are crying in neglect. I've only been playing couch multiplayer intermittently when friends come over, usually Didddy Kong Racing on N64

I’m still on ToTK. It fits well into the hour-long intervals I have available right now.

Mostly DayZ recently and some Rocketleague again for the first time in a while.

Gave TW:Attila a decent shot recently. Pretty good game, TWs just get stale fairly fast for me.

Also tried the HP game a while ago and...it's just boring. Looks pretty good, there's tons to do, they put in a lot of effort, but idk. Still feels weirdly lifeless and unengaging to me. Can't really put my finger on it. On paper it's everything my 10yo self would've wanted from an open world HP game, but it isn't. Played maybe 8h, haven't touched it in weeks and I highly doubt I'll ever finish it.

Does it have proper UI scale now? I remember playing it long ago and it was great and since then a lot of great mods came out but i can't play it since the interface is microscopic on higher resolutions.

TW: Attila?

I just heard of that one.

Oh, and I hate HP now.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (5 children)

Funny. Last time I was in one of these threads, I was asked what game I was looking forward to. It was long enough ago that my answer was "BoTW 2." My answer to the current question? Tears of The Kingdom.

Playing Chained Echoes right now, it's pretty fun and feels a lot like Chrono Trigger. Definitely recommend for anybody who likes old school JRPGs.

Sifu was another fun game I played recently, really good fighting mechanics that feel very fluid and look cinematic.

Afterparty was a fun story based game I can recommend for people looking for something casual.

I find I tend to like indie games nowadays because they tend to be shorter and mechanics are simpler, so you can just pick it up and play it for a bit without having to really get into it.

My fav genres are roguelike and story based games, in particular I really liked pretty much everything Telltale games made. I find they always have excellent writing in their games.

I used to play a lot of FPS and RTS games, but last RTS I played was SC2, and for FPS it was Titanfall 2 which was a ton of fun.

The Outer Worlds, one of my favorites. The messaging is a bit limited in its criticism of capitalism, but overall, it's refreshing to see and it combines it with a game that is pretty brief and to the point (not getting bogged down in repeatable quests and such things). It's also an RPG with choices that don't always have black and white, good vs. evil answers, and that's my favorite type of video game. And also, in spite of having some nuanced choices, it doesn't do the enlightened centrism thing of making it sound like the clear worst faction of the game could be good ackshully; it's pretty clear on that point and leaves more of the greyer stuff to side plots.

I’ve been playing a lot of Saints Row 2 lately. Very nostalgic for me, I played it a lot about 10 years ago. I like the San Andreas style of winning back territory. I also like the activities in the game. Great game. I also like Vampire Survivors, a newish game that plays like an old-school survival arcade game.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Vampire Survivors is supposed to be terrific and has wide aclaim.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

yea I’m a fan, they have a free mobile version too in case someone doesn’t have the cash to shell out on a gaming console or PC

I've been going pretty hard on Darktide since I got it a few weeks ago. The gameplay is fun and the soundtrack goes hard, but im often frustrated by how bizzarely unstable it can be for a mainstream game. Beware the menu screens, for they will betray you. Once it took me 10 tries to get a sucessful launch without a blackscreen or freezelock.

It really is just the menus though, once you get into the game you're safe and it rules

I'm currently very into Elden Ring. In a sea of gacha quest games, where you have a todo list of all quests, with arrows pointing exactly what you need to do next, Elden Ring feels very refreshing. I love how it doesn't hold my hand at all, and exploring the world is very rewarding.

It also scratches an itch I have, which is the git-gud aspect of some games, and it feels very rewarding to finally beat a boss you struggled with, or kill a dangerous enemy without taking a single hit

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Plus, it literally has no quest markers.

I... like that.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I've been playing Viewfinder, which is a first-person puzzle game where you can pick up photos/drawings/etc and place them in the world so that you can walk into them. Not too far yet so I don't know if it'll evolve into such, but so far it gives mindbending puzzler vibes like Superliminal, Antichamber, or Manifold Garden.

I'm all over the place with games currently. Still playing Street Fighter 6 and enjoying that a lot, nice to see improvement in your gameplay as time goes on. Also have been playing Hunt Showdown after taking a break from it for a couple of months. Recently started playing Project Zomboid with some friends and it's been a fun pickup, probably the most realistic zombie game that exists.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh yeah, heard great things about Project Zomboid.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's pretty fun and well made. Has a huge community of modders so there's a lot of mods you can install that make the game better.

Finally playing through GoW Ragnorok. My thoughts so far are that I hated elves in the last game and I hate them in this game too.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Damn Elves...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Was out of town for the weekend. But I picked up Dave the Diver, and have been continuing to play Oxygen Not Included. Still trying to get back to Zelda.

My favourite genres are strategy and action/adventure.

Most of the games I've been playing for a while have been infinite time sinks. But I did recently finish a game of Victoria 3 as Nejd. I finished the game as a great communist power, after having unified Arabia. It was challenging, and was some of the most fun I've had in the game so far. I really like the game, but I can see why some people would want to wait.

Playing: Replaying Witcher 3.

Just finished Gabriel Knight Sins of the Father.
