I wish I saw more activity there... I guess I should feel proud of myself that I don't have a good reason to post perhaps?

Edit: also [email protected] and [email protected]

...and I can't link communities apparently. But those are the ones

I think TIFU is one of those communities that can only exist when you have a larger userbase. There's only so many times one individual can post a good fuck up .

[–] [email protected] 21 points 10 months ago

Also, can people add a quick blurb about these communities so we know what they're about?

For anyone who doesn't want to be prompted to open the link in a mail client.

Ohhhhhhh, I thought it was a community about hippopotamuses

I'm always happy to pitch that there are dozens of us swifties over at [email protected]

Also for the game Satisfactory come on over to [email protected]

There's a venn diagram I never would have guessed existed.

If shameless self-promotions are okay:

  • [email protected] - Source ports for retro PC games, that allow them to run on different OSs, and/or with updated "modern" features and quality of life additions
  • [email protected] - Anything LaserDisc related. I have a huge collection, and love preservation efforts.

I'm always open to right-hand info link exchanges with other similar communities, as well.

So are you a film junkie or into quirky tech?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I'd be reluctant to claim to be a film connoisseur, but I am a film lover.

I am however very, very into retro tech and media collection, and preservation.

Do you know Techmoan?

He’s gone subscription now, but his old content is still available.

I used to watch this guy's stuff religiously back in the day. Today, not so much, but I still check out his stuff every once in a while.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Did you find him while you were looking for a dash cam?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

No.

I found him randomly on YouTube when he made a video about a very specific Discman model that is too small to house full size CDs, but still plays them just fine. Since then I decided to check out his other stuff, and became a fan.

Have you checked out the following few communities?

[email protected] for new communities to promote themselves as they try to get off the ground.

[email protected] for more or less the same, just via Lemmy World.

Also an underrated community that I like to use occasionally:

[email protected] to ask about whether specific communities exist/are around that you may not be having much luck finding (say, due to unique naming or nobody on your instance has joined it so it doesn't appear in search).

Lastly there's my own little community I threw together awhile ago that I'm not sure how to grow where you can ask around for stuff similar to other stuff you're into:

[email protected]

I guess if we’re keeping with the theme of self-promotion: [email protected]

I’m like 90% of the posts on that sub and wish I wasn’t. That reminds me: I haven’t posted in a while…

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: [email protected]

[email protected] can always use more contributors, especially now that its during the offseason!

American Football to be specific. Although, honestly now that its the NFL fantasy offseason, I wouldn't mind seeing some PL content.
