This reminds me of HOL (Human Occupied Landfill), which I've read about but haven't played.

Anyway, it has stats like Meat, Feet, and Mouth, and skills like "That Psycho Bruce Lee Shit", "Pilot Starship and Chew Gum at the Same Time", "Whining Until You Get What You Want", and "Turn Radios Into Howitzers".

Sounds like something on a spectrum between Call of Cthulu 1981 and West of Loathing.

Came to say this same thing, Call of Cthulhu 1981 is a blast, the most fun I’ve had with a TTRPG.

This sounds like a modified Kids on Bikes system as seen in a few seasons of Dimension 20.

Surviving any situation would be based on coolness, dopeness, freshness, smartbrain, and dancing ability.

Two of these stats are in my TTRPG (gumption and moxie).

It also features things like pep, knacks, savvy, and nerve.

Uh, link??!? Or is it only on paper?

The system itself is done but the setting-specific stuff is still in the works. It's designed to be modular, so there are different systems for different settings. The sort of cyberpunky shadowrunny system is close to ready to release a doc aside from like needing more feat-like upgrades and equipment lists. There's also a kind of Eldritch apocalyptic setting that overlaps with most of the same modules and is nearly ready.

I've been putting it on hold lately and focusing on a game I'm making in Godot because I sort of ran out of steam for playtesting it. It is a huge pain in the ass to be both designing a system and planning a weekly campaign to test the system with at the same time.

I'll probably swap back to working on it for a while once the game is done, because I plan on using the system in my next game.

Made me think about Dimension 20's Mentopolis. All of these would be characters instead of stats though.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

Nice. If they ever do another season of Mentopolis, I hope they get Hank Green to play "The Fix"s younger brother "Childlike Wonder".

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

I think chutzpe and moxie used to be stats in Paranoia

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Just rework gumshoe

I know it's a joke, but: a really small sail.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago

There could be a debuff called "wishy washy", it increases your childlike wonder, but lowers your gumption.

This reminds me of West of Loathing

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The X of Loathing series is fantastic. Another stat that comes to mind is Hornswogglin'

[–] [email protected] 1 points 17 hours ago

Um, achtually, Hornswagglin' is a skill and not a stat B^P

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh shit i didn't know it was a whole series

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, it started with Kingdom of Loathing, which is a free to play browser game, and more recently Shadows over Loathing, which has this cool 1920s Lovecraftian setting. All keep that great humor :D

[–] [email protected] 2 points 14 hours ago

Thank you! My ex gf and I used to play a ton of Kingdom. I knew about "West of Loathing", but this is the first time hearing about "Shadows Over Loathing".

Between Kingdom of Loathing and West of Loathing, they've got half of these covered.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 days ago

I feel like Shadow over Loathing might tap into the rest, lol

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 days ago

Hmm... Now I need a Loathing TTRPG.

Jib.

The jib sail is the triangular one at the prow of a ship. Different countries used different designs, so liking the cut of a jib meant you recognized it.

Funny, because 'gob' is a slang term for sailor.

The term "gob" is colloquial, originating from the slang used within the navy to refer to sailors. Its use is informal and can carry a tone of familiarity or affection among members of the naval community. On the other hand, "sailor" is the more formal and universally recognized term for anyone who works or serves on a ship, regardless of their specific duties or the type of vessel. "Sailor" encompasses a broad category of maritime professionals and enthusiasts, including those in both military and civilian spheres.

So, sned me $10.00 for a banana

Heres my character for this campaign

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Looks like you minmaxed for Gib Cut. I like that.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ah, the "Provincial dad" class.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 22 hours ago

"Provincial dad" class features include:

  • Bulk discount store membership.
  • May name a "preferred grill out spot". Gains advantage on movement rolls anytime their turn would end at their "preferred grill out spot". Players who use this ability successfully must then move to their preferred grill out spot, or make a Willl save DC 14 vs 1d4 psychic damage.
  • Elemental Resistance 5 (all elements) when operating any lawn or garden care implement.
  • Resistant to poison (advantage on save rolls) in any food or drink that they believe to be "hand-crafted" or "locally sourced"

How are you going in with 0 gusto, are you bonkers??

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Pure je ne sais quoi build.

I always have that certain something needed for the job.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I don't know what that is.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

"Je ne sai quoi" = "a certain something"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

I don't know what~,~ you mean.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 days ago

That's how my bard build feels in BG3. Always know the right thing to say, to make a bad guy kill himself.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 days ago (2 children)
[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

I like the cut of your gif

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago

This was bugging me, thank you.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 2 days ago (4 children)

There’s a Cuck Tingle RPG where you can play a sentient DVD box set. IIRC your stats are not far from this

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

chutzpah wouldn't work, the less you have the more powerful you get

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago

Toon had chutzpah as a stat

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago

Play Over the Edge and those can actually be your stats.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's like half of PBtA games, no?
