Let me know if this is appropriate for this community.

I've been collecting links to post, blog, article, comment, etc that criticize the fediverse, whether it's about the specific apps or fediverse in general, whether it's about the technical aspect or about the social aspect.

If you also found one, feel free to share it here.

very much agree with the post about the politics lacking nuance, but I think it's a problem with social media in general

the communities/echo chambers that form around instances probably amplify that though

Selection bias.

All of the people who are happy with the fediverse just stay here and participate without writing a navel-gazing "review."

This is probably a language-barrier on my part, so sorry if I misunderstood your comment, but I also included comments that are originated from Lemmy, or wedistribute.org a website that supports the fediverse movement

Even on Lemmy, people happy with the platform won't create such posts. Only unhappy users will, which creates the bias.

Eh, I've praised aspects of Lemmy on the microblogging side of the Fediverse, I'm quite sure

Ok, but that means all of the buzz about the fediverse is negative.

And also all of the ghost accounts suggest that "negative" is a common experience here.

The prople who are happy are also happy to let the place languish, because they got what they want: A space to circle jerk about linux, to complain about Twitter and Ressit, and to "both sides bad". But maybe that isn't what's best for the internet. Maybe we should want something better?

https://lemmy.world/post/22316287 - I really want to like Lemmy, 2024-11-22

I still stand by my comment there

Feel free to block communities with political content.

You can also use an app or alternative frontend to filter keywords. [email protected] has a post about that.

For communities, [email protected] can help

For home kit, the Apple communities are probably more active, and you should be able to post about it there too

Also, interesting to note that the poster of "https://lemmy.world/post/11720592 - Lemmy users lack nuace and it stops actual discussion., 2024-02-08" is still around, last comment a few days ago

OOT, is this post shows up as cross-posted? I think it doesn't

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 hours ago

Indeed, it does not show up as crossposted because Lemmy uses the referenced link to determine crossposts.

The usual case if two posts linking to the same external resources (picture, article, video)
