Julius Caesar was assassinated for wearing red boots. Barrack Obama was lambasted for wearing a tan suit. Purple is associated with royalty, white is associated with clergy, and gold is associated with superiority. Red and Blue have powerful meanings in America, and so does Green. Which colour is the most political in your opinion?

77% of national flags contain red.

...Which is a bit disturbing because it is generally used to refer to bloodshed or might in battle - partially in a "let's honor the past" sort of way, but mostly in a "don't fuck with us" sort of way.

Fun fact: the flag of Jamaica is the only country flag which has neither red, white or blue.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

The old flag of Lybia fit that category as well.

Not a single color, but in Chinese tradition there were five colors of equal political significance corresponding to the Wuxing cycle of changes—black, red, cyan, white, and yellow. Each dynasty was associated with a color (with other associated traits), and was expected to be followed by one of two other colors (depending on whether the succession would be peaceful or revolutionary).

Purple is probably the only one that I’m aware of on your list where there’s a legit logic behind it, since dyes used to be harder to come by

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Drag thinks maybe there's a historical reason why white is associated with purity and black with sin, and it ain't because of the price of dye.

EDIT: Drag just wants to talk about colours, not have to defend drag's identity!

This guy's gimmick is to speak about himself in the third person. You can safely block him.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Drag does not identify as a guy and drag does not use he/him/himself pronouns. Drag would appreciate not being so blatantly misgendered.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's not misgendering if it happens before you let anyone know that, fucking dumbass.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Drag's pronoun is in brackets in drag's display name. Drag wonders why you choose to complain to other people about your own decision not to read the things on your screen.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Stupid AND a liar, no wonder you're the way you are.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Drag can see that you have configured Lemmy to show usernames instead of displaynames. Drag's username is dragonfucker. Drag suggests learning how to use Lemmy properly before calling people who understand the software better than you liars.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You mean I downloaded Boost and used the default settings? I suggest you get your head checked, the stick you shoved up your ass is sticking out of your mouth and you're spewing bullshit now.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago

Here's a relevant thread: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/25502917

You shouldn't complain about not seeing displaynames after choosing an app that doesn't show displaynames. Unless you plan to complain to the developers and request the option.

Why not just say I ? It doesn’t make sense to go 3rd person

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Did you just assume drag's person? /Jk

It doesn’t make sense to go 3rd person

It does if one wants to be really annoying.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Mongo only pawn in game of life

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago

Drag's pronouns are not about you. Drag apologises for the confusion.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (4 children)

Drag is not going third person. Drag is using first person neopronouns. Drag is happy to teach you about grammar structures you're unfamiliar with. Drag prefers drag's pronouns over gender neutral pronouns like "I" because drag's gender is not neutral.

In Japan, there are multiple first person pronouns depending on the speaker's identity and indeed the specifics of their current social situation. Like watashi, boku, and ore. Drag is doing that.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I think you’re desperately seeking attention or a right wing troll because you’re the most annoying person on lemmy

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago

People like you are the reason I used to be so right wing

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Also in Japan, if someone refers to themself with their own name, that's seen as childish or arrogant.

If your first person pronoun is the same as someone referring to you in third person, then you are referring to yourself in third person every time you refer to yourself in first person. And since the idea of a first person neopronoun is exceedingly rare, most people will only think of you as speaking in the third person.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes, but I don't see how that's relevant here.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago

Your idiocy was on full display when you couldn't tell the difference between a name and a pronoun.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Drag is not referring to dragself by drag's name. Drag is referring dragself by the pronoun "drag", while drag's name is Dragon "Rider". Drag would like to remind you that drag's name is perfectly visible on your screen and you can read it whenever you like, so you don't need drag's help to know what drag's name is.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You refer to yourself as "Drag", which I understand is short for "Dragon". And given your proclivities towards dragons, I have to assume this is intentional. So, yes, you are referring to yourself by your name, or at least a nickname.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Is drag to understand that your position is that pronouns cannot sound similar to the names of the people who have them?

Somebody should tell Sheila and Hector they need to change their pronouns, then.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

The problem is that you don't know what a pronoun is. You should try writing a sentence with common pronouns first and see if your sentence makes any grammatical sense. For instance "is to understand that..." doesn't work, because "is me/I to understand" doesn't work. You would instead say "Am drag to understand", which while sounding a bit odd is at least actually writing in English.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Quit arguing with drag about drag's pronouns. Drag doesn't want to justify dragself.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There are people named Yuu, Mi and Ai. However:

  • They likely didn't choose their name.
  • Their name only matches ONE pronoun they use, not ALL of a given person.
  • Their first person and third person pronouns aren't the same.

Think of the line "I am Gandalf, and Gandalf means me." Ai would say "I am Ai, and Ai means me", which sounds odd but hey ho. You would say "Drag is Drag, and Drag means drag", which is borderline nonsense.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 week ago

No, drag would say drag is Dragon "Rider", and dragonfucker means drag.

Drag is tired of listening to you being wrong about drag's identity. Don't you have to go be silly somewhere else?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

[...]Hector they need to change their pronouns, then.

Yes, Hee-ctor

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Okay, how about He-Man? Is He-Man not allowed to use he/him pronouns?

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lmao...now I'm picturing He-Man talking like a caveman by replacing all of his personal pronouns with "He-Man"...but not conjugating the verbs as if he were speaking in the third-person.

He-man have the power!

Love it!

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That would be very different to drag's pronouns, because drag uses drag/dragself pronouns.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

But you did conjugate your verbs that way

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, drag has conjugated verbs relating to drag's pronouns like this.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Not every time! Haha
