Technically, Frankenstein's Monster was the author, and Dr. Frankenstein himself was the real Mary Shelley we made along the way.

It takes a deep appreciation of the story's themes to recognize that the real monster is actually Mary Shelley

Wow, I mean.... Just, wow.

She created a mad scientist and then put a well-meaning flesh golem through the wringer just for entertainment. That sounds pretty evil to me.

Authors are all sadists

All this time, I thought the real villain was Percy Bysshe Shelley.

I think there's actually a few Frankenstein-related ones.

I've never managed to convince anybody of this, but... while I think you can't really say that the monster's name was Frankenstein, you would be well justified in calling the monster "a Frankenstein," after its creator, in the same way you'd refer to a Garand (the rifle) after its creator (John Garand). As in, "Frankenstein is a novel about Dr. Frankenstein, who was the first person in fiction to create a freaky Frankenstein, whom he later rejected."

A monster writing a book about an author. Now I've seen everything!

Such a mindfuck too. I kept eagerly awaiting the title character's appearance, but it almost is written as if it's an autobiography of Mr. Frankenstein.

it's an autobiography of Mr. Frankenstein.

And the evil doctor that created him

It’s alive – Actually Doc, your pronoun usage needs work.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 8 months ago (1 children)

This would irritate me to no end.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Which proofs that the real monster is the person who did this!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 8 months ago

Marry Shelly?! I've never met her!

What about the book written by Virginia Wolf?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

What's wrong with Virgina Woolf?
