I’m sad the world moved past IRC. It was always chock full of tech geniuses and underground nerd shit. The normies can have discord
I’m still amazed that people consider proprietary app Discord the successor to IRC
I’m surprised discord is so commonly used with such a horribly unintuitive UX. I can’t recall all my problems with it, but I remember absolutely hating using it at first, as a person with early adopter tendencies.
guess I'm a normie then. I'd much rather be using discord than IRC. I can log in on any device using a QR code, I get message history in every server, I can tag people properly. I can use inline gifs, videos, thumbnails, etc. on every client. I can actually search shit. Yeah it's proprietary, but it's still better to have teamspeak level voice chat (seriously, nothing has been as ~~discord~~ good at actual voice chat since teamspeak) alongside your chats and dms rather than have them be literally 15 different apps depending on your platform.
