The objective of this Lemmy community is maximize the number of New York Times articles non-subscribers can read via the gift article feature provided to subscribers. If two people create gift links for the same article, one is basically wasted, so check here in case the article you want to share already has a gift link.

New York Times gift articles automatically expire after 30 days.

Tämän Lemmy-yhteisön tavoitteena on maksimoida se määrä New York Timesin artikkeleita, joita ei-tilaajat voivat lukea hyödyntämällä tilaajille tarjottua lahja-artikkelitoimintoa. Jos kaksi henkilöä luo lahjalinkkejä samasta artikkelista, toinen on käytännössä hukkaan heitetty, joten tarkista täältä, jos haluat jakaa artikkelin, jolla on jo lahjalinkki.

New York Timesin lahja-artikkelit vanhenevat automaattisesti 30 päivän kuluttua.

Edit: Note that links will not be removed.

Diplomats and leaders from around the world are gathering for annual climate negotiations. Here’s what they’re all about and what Donald Trump’s victory means for the meeting.

I'll note that these negotiations require consensus to act, which means that much of what we would need (eg: binding cuts to extraction and use of fossil fuels) are basically not attainable through them.

Much of the plan’s nearly 900 pages detail extreme executive-branch overhauls. Among many recommendations, Project 2025 lays out plans for criminalizing pornography, disbanding the Commerce and Education departments, rejecting the idea of abortion as health care and shredding climate protections.

This was a conquering of the nation not by force but with a permission slip. Now, America stands on the precipice of an authoritarian style of governance never before seen in its 248-year history.

They're asking that people stay off NYT games and cooking-related pages:

NYT Games and Cooking are BEHIND THE PICKET LINE. Please don’t play or engage with Games or Cooking content while the strike lasts!

News coverage — including election coverage — is NOT behind the picket line. It’s okay to read and share that, though the site and app may very well have problems.

  • Fluoride is a mineral that occurs naturally in water, although it can also be a byproduct of industry. Adding fluoride to public water systems began as an experiment in Grand Rapids, Mich., in 1945, after a dentist at the National Institutes of Health theorized that it might prevent cavities in teeth. Over the next 11 years, tooth decay in Grand Rapids dropped by 60 percent.
  • a president could exert pressure on the F.D.A. to reverse its approval for a particular vaccine. Mr. Trump could also appoint judges predisposed to limiting the power of federal agencies, including the F.D.A.
  • If Congress were to repeal the Affordable Care Act, what would come next? When Mr. Trump was asked during his debate against Vice President Kamala Harris whether he had a replacement plan for the law, he said he had the “concepts of a plan.”

Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, is making a last-minute appeal to white working-class men. But for all his talk of football, that bloc is far from a safe bet for his ticket.
