r/ImaginarySliceOfLife meets the pensive solitude of living in your parents' basement.

Limerence is a state of mind which results from romantic or non-romantic feelings for another person, and typically includes intrusive, melancholic thoughts, or tragic concerns for the object of one's affection as well as a desire to form or maintain a relationship with the object of love and to have one's feelings reciprocated.

To me, these fall outside of the style guide for limerence. But there's still a solitary beauty in landscape art that I cannot ignore.

If you think this is beautiful, you should know there's an annular eclipse passing across the United States this month on October 14, 2023.

Part of my reasoning for starting this community is to try and get artist attribution for art of this aesthetic that I like. This animated pixel image is the first one that I started with a cold-turkey file and found the author!

RC's other works are also brilliant. You can check them out here: https://www.behance.net/romaincourtois

Limerence is inextricably linked to yuumei's art for me. Likely because of where I was in life when I first found it; the internet was still optimistic, and life had so much to explore.

I found this GIF back during the solar eclipse in 2017. While real solar eclipses are beautiful and wondrous, I do love art that has a more melancholy take as well.

If you're on firefox, right click the image and make sure "Loop" is enabled.
