Hope it works out well for you!

My brain is melted from working on the patois I'm making. It's coming along nicely, but it's amazingly hard to make it all fit together.

Wealth and fame are like alcohol: they don't make you happy. They can only augment happiness that's already there. If someone isn't happy before getting drunk, they don't become a "happy drunk".

That makes it much clearer. Thanks!

I saw a link for each one, they left the choice to me. But how can I choose if I don't know what the differences are?

I've been keeping too close an eye on the various wars happening at the moment, and it's bringing me down. I think it's important to understand what's happening, why it's happening etc, but there's a limit to how much you can take in and stay sane. I've been trying to find other things to focus on, but it's hard to say "oh all these dead children are upsetting me, I'll just not allow it to bother me while I live my life of relative privilege". Having said that, my problem is a lot better than those of Gazans at the moment. But does that mean I can't get worn out and depressed from following these events? It's just horrible for everyone, no matter how you dice it.

Bummer. At least I know. Cheers.

I'll definitely look into congee. Cheers!

That sounds delicious, maybe it can go together with some rice and an omelette on the side?

Yeah you can add whatever. I avoided rice because I've been living off rice for quite a long time and I'm getting sick of it haha. I would recommend steamed/boiled veggies as a side dish.

I guess you could always start a new community of your own?

Hmm, I can barely use Lemmy just as a poster. I don't think I'd be up to creating a community.

But I've had a question about rice I've wanted to ask for a long time, but I didn't know who to ask. Maybe you would know: is it possible to make a decent rice dish using a powdered soup mix? I'm often left with rice and soup mix and it's tempting to mix them, but I can't afford to waste food if it's inedible.

Sausages in the frypan, heat on high. Then tip a tin of diced tomatoes onto the sausages. This will be the "gravy". Then I chop the sausages into bite size pieces with an egg flip, while they're still cooking and soaking up the tomatoes. When they're nearly cooked, sprinkle some basil through it liberally. Voilà! It tastes so good I didn't even need salt, or anything else. And all I dirtied was the frypan, egg flip, plate and fork.

I'd like to find a community that shared cheap, quick and easy recipes like this. But there doesn't seem to be any.

I made really amazing braised sausages today. Only 3 ingredients! Quick and easy to cook, and really tasty! =-)

Oh she'll be interested if she comes home one day and sees an elephant in the backyard with Koreans stuck to it. Just an idea*.

*THIS IS A JOKE. I DO NOT SERIOUSLY CONDONE ANIMAL CRUELTY OR STICKING KOREANS TO ANIMALS.

Jocular ones are welcome too (and no doubt inevitable), but I'm looking more for "sensible" ones. Some examples:

  • Unmoved Mover
  • Great Universal Mind
  • Undifferentiated Aesthetic Continuum
  • Ground Of Being

I just read up on it and it seems good, at least in theory. How does it compare to Lemmy, would you say?

Merhaba!

I have been learning Turkish for a little while now, and I can't find anyone to ask advice, or other learners for mutual encouragement. I used to visit the Turkish sub on reddit, but I don't use reddit any more since recent events.

I really like how Turkish sounds, how it looks in writing/text, and it's making me more curious about other parts of Turkish culture, history etc.

As I'm sure you all will know, it's incredibly difficult to stay motivated while learning a language. Especially in isolation.

It would be great if there was even a language post in this community. Maybe there aren't enough learners to do that, I don't know. What do you think?

I've tried multiple times, and I keep getting that message. Could someone explain why it's happening? Ironically, trying to google the answer got me nowhere.

I looked out my window and saw what looked to be a piece of plastic falling out of a tree, onto the ground. Then it started crawling. When I saw it was a bat, I called the wildlife people and they caught it in a net. Poor guy looked beat up, and was very dehydrated. The wildlife people gave electrolytes and took it away for further treatment and rehabilitation.

Here are some more pics.

I have 2 more pics but Lemmy isn't letting me upload them. I'll try to upload them in a reply.

I've got a few, and I figured others must have them too. I couldn't find a community. Is there one?
