@Haus I'm less concerned about the potential for homeowner's mis-use and much more concerned about that data being outside the control of the person who installed it. Personally, I like my smart home stuff to be self-hosted and self-contained and if I ever choose to share it that will be 100% my choice.

I, for myself, would appreciate if there was a way to block all #bots in the #fediverse. I don't find it to be too bad on kbin/lemmy but OMG, the #mastodon federated feed is mostly bots - I've been blocking entire domains left and right trying to clean it up.

But the instances need to allow their participation and many will not without a hat in hand.
