Maybe because people who needed it knew there were better ways to do it, like ipython and Jupyter. I’ve never heard of anyone gushing about the stock REPL.
What you experienced is a verification service provided by credit reporting agencies and has nothing to do with PayPal. I wouldn’t be concerned that PayPal has this information, because they don’t. There are probably better reasons to be concerned and to not use PayPal.

What you have posted is your interpretation of the definition, which has little legal or practical value. A product does not need a successor, superior or otherwise, to become obsolete. Nothing you have posted has any relation to the definition of obsolete, and are mostly word play.
That being said, right to repair needs to become a real thing and companies should be supplying repair manuals for items they consider obsolete.
A response to your question about how the XL is doing:
It is by far the most reliable and most capable printer I have ever used. I got one of the early 5 tool units and while there were things to work out, they have all been worked out.
I am completely satisfied the the printer
