Microsoft basically owns them. If anything they would be absorbed into Microsoft. The openAI brand is probably too valuable at this point to shelf it, they'll keep it as is. Just my guess.

This idea that other people are looking at you and judging you at the gym is pure paranoia and a bit of a case of "main character syndrome"
In general, it's a tiny nerdy minority that doesn't trust meta or even cares at all about internet privacy. Unfortunately that's the only tiny minority who could have any interest in the meta verse.
Or make it illegal. Why waste so many resources on something that doesn't produce any value for society?
