One very simple things I try is updating the glorious eggroll proton version and force-use that. Changing the proton version sometimes (especially switching to an older one) requires deleting the compatdata (wineprefix folder) of the game.

I am on 1.49.5 but sometimes have a very weird problem with the preview of a webpage in the post. With this it is reproducible: https://programming.dev/post/23228069

When i click on this post in my feed, it opens and very briefly displays the google logo in the post. So it is only a split second there and this happens every time I open the post again. I assume it is some weird behavior with the link preview?

Edit: nothing major or blocker, just weird

Heads up: this is a bit of a test-giveaway to test if I am capable to do giveaways (and if this stuff even works).

The game is Calico bought on Green Man Gaming redeemable on Steam. Sending the GMG gift code strongly preferred.

At time of purchase, region lock was stated as "This product has no regional restrictions".

You can enter by commenting something nice directly under this post.

Rules of the community apply. Additionally, the history of the account will be checked to make sure you are not a bot, shitty person in general, and similar stuff.

The winner will be chosen under full discretion by me. The time frame of the giveaway is as long as I personally feel like it or fits in my schedule or whatever; in other words: undecided. Maybe 2024-12-15T23:00:00Z if there are (valid) contestants by then.

Well, in essence yes. But I have seen enough mishandling and homegrown stuff of custom date-time calculations that this could get interesting. I suspect that there are a lot of systems where the TZ database is never updated which at least will result in shifted displayed local time.

Also, it is fun to get data from old programs and also from userinput where the actual offset has to be guessed from the timezone. And if that conversion data is old, fun is had. It does not matter how time is represented internally in this case.

Every time this topic comes up I wonder how many computer systems this will break. Maybe we find out soon if this is really realized.

From within the app, so that the button to switch to your home instance appears. Though, this might only be possible with posts and not communities I assume. To open it in a browser you can somewhat workaround it using "share source link". This is the only way for me to currently I can think of. But then I have the (not so great) website and not your awesome app to browse :D

Also, would it be possible to automatically load the last draft for a comment? So I mean when you are going into the comment creation again, the app checks if there is a draft for this specific comment/post id.

Btw., the "show full context" turned out really nice for commenting!

Thank you! Would it be possible to add a link to the context menu of a post to view it from the original instance? I (still) have federation issues like with this and other communities so at least being able to read posts and comments would be nice.

For some very weird reason it never crossed my mind, and I really do not know why, that I could invest in a huge healthcare corporation whose target it is to provide as little healthcare as possible. But your comment made me think about that that is possible to do.

Thank you for making this app! It feels like an adequate alternative to liftoff, but I am having some (usability) problems. Could be a "me"-problem, though, since I am still getting the hang of the app and also the wall of settings it provides.

I cannot subscribe to any community. The button does vanish for a split second but just reappears. Tried it on multiple, but never worked.
I am using the left-handed setting. But the "preview" popup of a link has the buttons inconveniently on the right.
I can't find out to jump to "all" or "local" posts of a specific instance.
Up/downvotes are on the left, but comment count on the right. Would be cool, if there was an option to have them together.
default up/downvote color is inverted from my point of view (up is red, down is blue). Would be cool, if there was a simple switch button without having to pick the opposite colors manually.
Drafts are saved but I can't find them. A menu in the composing-post would be cool.
Something else, I currently can't remember.

Edit: oh, it would be cool, if "save post" could be pulled out from the submenu beneath a post or comment.

Edit2:

the community-popup (button on top left) has a weird "back"-history. A popup should be always first to close. Also it should be modal since you interact with everything in the background and can't close it tapping outside.
settings are weirdly bugged if you return from a category back to main. If i use the button on top left, everything works. But when I use the system back button, I cannot click on any category anymore. Though, I can still scroll.
