And the stupid fuckers are dead wrong. No one even knows what Karen does, but they will ask someone like me to "real quick use AI to replace it".

I've replaced Google Maps with a physical Garmin navigation device in my car, as part of an intentional "deGoogling" of my life.
At first switching to a Garmin felt like I had become my grandfather.
But now that I've had it for awhile, I could never go back to Google Maps, anyway.
- Garmin's interface is much nicer, to me, in a bunch of subtle ways that add up.
- I appreciate just saying "is it in the Garmin?" Instead of asking my SO to text me an address for the kids random event.
- I particularly love my Garmin's ability to predict which lane I need when driving a big city highway.
The feature of Google I miss is "there's an accident on the road ahead" which my Garmin cannot do because it is not constantly online.

Layoffs have turned Google, Apple, and Amazon into IBM. You cannot sustainability cut jobs forever, while also expecting your bottom line and moonshot ideas to provide growth. What sustains you is "old tech", and these companies jumped into old tech the second they decided to take management failures out on employees.
These asshole CEOs need to be put in their place. I wish tech workers would fucking unionize already. The Democrats will never help anyone with labor issues.
These CEOs forget what a punch in the nose or the solarplexus feels like. They need the wind knocked out of them.
More and more corporate and less customer focused company. Greed will eventually kill youtube, search, chrome and android.
As far as I'm concerned, they've already successfully killed search and Chrome, and if there were adequate alternatives to YouTube and Android, I'd leave those too

Why hasn't Vimeo taken off? They look like they have the right idea of eschewing ads and letting creators paywall content behind subscriptions to make money.

It's why Japanese companies made better products than everyone else for so long. They actually cared about what they did and raised standards for everyone else.

They should start with his

Basically saying: "The problem is YOU! YOU are too many (even though it was us who hired you)! Surely if you go away, we can become better, faster, and more efficient!"
people have a hard time admitting that their job today might be obsolete tomorrow, I believe this is already happening and it's going to get much, much worse. If you're not adaptable you'll have a very hard time in the future.
Kai-Fu Lee has a pretty interesting idea of how this will all end up - a couple of large corporations directly paying people's unemployement to prevent riots.
I would agree if more AI products that people are being removed for were producing anything valuable or providing any kind of reasonable service.
It's time to unionize
Google is so broken that people are choosing to use a chatbot that often makes things up instead, and they think they have too many people fixing stuff.
