Preferably realistic features, but if your perfect shoe involves some kinda anti-grav hover features, I'd absolutely understand.

Heelies? Pfft, check out my real hover-slides.

The ability for them to easily be repaired and recycled unlike the throw away shoes companies make now.

It's possible to buy repairable shoes. They are just not as trendy or cheap as the mass produced fast fashion counterparts.

100% dirt and water repellant. Just stay clean and dry all the time.

The monkey's paw curls. Your sweat is forever sealed within the shoes.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

Well it forget to make the shoes dirt and water repellant, but otherwise I have those. Not to bad if it isn't to warm outside, grate autumn/spring early winter shoes.

Sneakers/Tennis/Running shoes that have automatically pop/retracting heel wheels like Heelys

You lock your shoes together a certain way to engage the wheels which lock in place so you can skate around. When you're done, you lock in the opposite direction which causes the wheels to eject and swing out to rest on the top of the shoe so it stays out of the way.

You get the ultimate tactical shoe that you can run and play sports in which also also double as Heelys when you need them to

Optionally, make the wheels electric powered as well lol

Something breathable like canvas but it is more durable than leather. The soles are as tough as possible while staying flexible enough to accommodate squatting. The soles are designed to be replaced multiple times without damaging the rest of the shoes.

It would have a composite protective toe, few to no seams, and laces that can snug it up to your foot if you tug them and hook them, but the shoes would stay on if you don't do anything to the laces. Like, they just wouldn't be as supportive without snugging them up.

It would have aggressive arch supports, or else come with several different inserts for different arch support needs.

Also, very wide toe box designed around normal toes, not squashing toes into a narrow or unnaturally shaped space.

Retractable ice spikes and claws!

Not mine but saw a reddit post about them a while ago and saved this pic on my phone.

I want some.

Secret pocket in the tongue to hide your drugs like my circa late 90’s Chad Muska éS that I tore to shreds skateboarding like an IDIOT!!

I’m old now and don’t need to hide my drugs in my shoe anymore, but those shoes were cool as hell

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

A limited run of 2023 muskas came out last month FYI. Could probably grab a pair still....

Yeah when I looked earlier they had most sizes left in the UK, not sure where you're based but a quick Google should get you there.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

I’m buying a pair. Thanks dude you’re my hero!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Rocket shoes? Yeah, definitely rocket shoes

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Like heelies but the wheels are sideways so you use it like a skateboard. I don't know how that would work but that's what I want.

So like leather barefoot shoes? Those exist.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Do they look appropriate for semiformap occasions, though?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I searched for "leather barefoot shoes" and found several. Example

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

My favorite shoes are the Red Wing Iron Ranger's. I worked for them for 3 years and when I left I was gifted my second pair. They're great shoes in everyway. I only wish they had an 8 inch version available in the states. They had one back then in Europe, but nothing stateside. My two sets and the pile of other shoes I got when I worked there have been going strong some years on so I haven't boot shopped in a while, maybe they finally took my advice and did it.

Ah the american classic shoe

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Steel radial truck-tyre soles. Sick of wearing through them in a few months.

Fits my weird-shaped feet (wide fitting, deep through the instep).

Uppers squashy enough not to destroy my feet after an all-day hike, but hard-wearing enough not to fall apart.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Slip in (already a thing) and machine washable.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I agree. With "Lemmy is fantastic" part, too.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

I would just like some width varieties as well as length.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Good soles that don’t fall off while walking.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

I'd settle for perfectly comfortableshoes but for special features I'd have to say.....

Okok

So they're sandals. Perfect comfort and air flow but they have a forcefield to repel dirt, rocks, water, etc.

And I'm thinking like hiking sandals so good traction as well.

Yes, these would be the most perfect shoes ever.

Basically indestructible soles and insoles in terms of wear and tear, and an indestructible in general toe cap. Soft enough insoles to cushion, but firm enough to support. Light enough to use everywhere without feeling like I’m walking on King Kai’s planet. Self-tightening laces and mouth. GPS tracking in case I can’t find them or someone’s stolen them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

Id need a fan to get rid of moisture when it's hot and my feet are sweaty.

Quick swap method for the tread of the bottom as it becomes worn or to suit another purpose - need nonslip non conductive bottom at work -swap as needed or maybe need better support for long distance running on pavement for your work out - swap to the tread for that

Shoe laces are gone I want a one hand quick latch or something. I've seen them on helmets adapt it to a shoe please.

[–] pan_troglodytes 0 points 11 months ago

they'd be like sandals, but with a lot of cushion - like walking on a porpoise. my palanquin bearers would wear them.

I just want basic running shoes that are $30/pair and will not change in any way for the next 40 years. Basically, I just want a pair of New Balance shoes on sale from joesnewbalanceoutlet.com for the good old price they used to offer 3 years ago. The only problem with them at the moment is they have raised the price floor to $40 and the style rotates too much. I just want the same stupid thing every time.

Some key features:

  1. a little rubber around the toe to keep the puddles out
  2. breathable top
  3. cushy bottom
  4. dont change

I hear a lot of this BIFL for shoes stuff. I have no intention of keeping my shoes longer than 6-9 months. At $30/pair, they are disposable. When I accidentally step in dog crap, they become disposable immediately.

I also have no interest in leather. Might last a long time, but for me it is like putting a ziplock bag on my feet and it turns into a swamp real fast.

A phone in the sole so I can smell what I've been stepping in while talking to my friends.
