Not going to be very good at this but here's mine:. The rain knocked heaps of blossoms off the citrus tree. It smells amazing!
I don't think our lemon has even blossomed yet! I'll have to keep an eye on it, citrus blossom smells divine.
I agree! I picked up a handful of this and my hands smelt really nice for ages. Whatever makes the fragrance must be an oil or something.

I haven't weeded the garden and really need to get out there but since things are flowering the bees are starting to appear, so I'm inclined to leave it as is for now, at least until more non-weed flowers are blooming.

Drove 4 hours round trip to visit an uncle today. Grabbed this shot in his garden as I thought the juxtaposition of blossoms with sullen grey sky seemed to summarize the changeability of spring, at least around here.
As a bonus, he couldn't remember what this tree is (early dementia).

It does. I would say photos posted in either are entered, but probably try to keep them together if possible. Since there's already an entry here, this one?
I've suggested just posting in !nz going forward. Things like this need to reach a wide audience to get participants, so I think this community is the best chance of that.

What's the "best" way to upload a photo for use in Lemmy?
You can directly upload a photo if it's less than 5MB if you use a lemmy.nz account. Other instances may have higher or lower limits, or may have even disabled uploads.
The website has a button to add an image that triggers the upload, apps and alternate frontends may have different ways to do it.
I'd say that's your best bet as a starting point. Note that the only way to delete a photo is by using the button that appears when you first upload it. You can't do it later (in an emergency I can remove images but it's not exactly easy to do). So if you want that ability then that might play into your decision.
Other options I have seen are catbox.moe for bigger photos, or uploading to pixelfed, a federated instagram alternative (e.g. at pixelfed.nz).

And if I were to use something like Pixelfed, it would just be a text link to it? No way to have it embedded in the comment?
I don't think you can embed it in a fancy way, but if you copy the image URL (not the page link, but right click on the image and copy the image link) then you can use markdown to embed the image. It's basically the same as a link but put ! in front, like so:

So long as you get the link right, it will show the image within the comment.
