Being invested in Tomb Raider lore is as incomprehensible to me as being into Frogger lore. How many people could possibly care about this?

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

frogger actually has a very rich and compelling lore. in one game, for instance, he can jump very high. and in another he extend his tongue very far. there's also a game where you get to see his feet

Gamers really need to read some books

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sometimes stories are like food. I can enjoy a finely crafted meal and it is very delicious. Sometimes though... junk food and unhealthy stuff just calls to you. You enjoy it for a bit but afterwards you admire it wasn't that great.

Some games, some manga, and some manhua especially fall under junk food for me, but I of course like reading full novels and the like too.

That's fine. I'm not trying to gatekeep. I'm just venting at daft gamers

I-was-saying I like the old games and the stories around them. Granted I've never dabbled in the games post 2013-reboot or the comic books.

Old Lara was really simple. She just wanted cool things to decorate her giant British manor with and was willing to kill anyone and anything to get them

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago

Normal Brit activities then?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

When I was younger I didn't think much of it in games like this, but when you go back and play something like Far Cry 3 or Tomb Raider (2013) and you realize how many people you kill along the way... goddamn.

If you were a true fan of the series and not a reactionary nerd clout chasing you'd know Lara has always been a lesbian. Core tried to shoehorn her in a male love interest and it fell flat on it's face and failed. So it's the most unsurprising news ever.

Tomb Raider in 1996: Lara is Lesbian!

G*mers in 1996: Cool! (For awooga reasons)

Tomb Raider in 2023: Lara is Lesbian!

G*mers in 2023: Honestly, this feels forced. Why would they change it all these years later?

[–] [email protected] 33 points 1 year ago (1 children)

G*mers are so bigoted today that it overrides their sex drive lmfao

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 year ago

Their problem is that the le sexy lesbian sex is supposed to be presented like a porn writing prompt, where the le sexy waifus are making out to get senpai excited so he can le sexy sex the both of them.

Just the concept of two lesbians having a committed relationship deflates their weeb peens because that leaves no potential opportunity for them to show up and make the performative lesbians go nyaaah. wojak-nooo

The only thing I remember about the story of the 2013 game is that they get shipwrecked and Lara calls out Saaaaaam! a lot. Definitely seemed like they were a couple to me

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 year ago (1 children)

they get shipwrecked and Lara calls out Saaaaaam! a lot

inspired by that one glitch in heavy rain, the new lara croft game will have a feature where anytime you press X, you call out for sam and whatever you might be saying gets replaced with you screaming for sam.

she looks like she goes to hot topic and buys clothes to steal valor from gay people. that's all i got here

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I demand a retvrn to tradition with enormous polygon boobs not woke fleshy boobs for Lara

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago

enormous polygon boobs

the fact that they were shaped like pyramids was actually really deep symbolism for the fact that she would often go inside of pyramids theory-gary

I mean me and all the other lesbians were the ones excited for the 2013 reboot in middle school. Not a single boy I knew played that game. We went to game stop in droves for Tomh Raider.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Didnt gamers felt its gay if their female playable character dates a guy lmao.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

solution here is to have lara get railed by some guy with a big dick in first person

totally wont make anyone realize anything trans-specter

Melonie Mac took such a sharp turn. I remember watching her let's play of a game and she was this sweet bubbly gamer type like Pokimane. Then I think she got married to a marine dude and quickly turned into an anti-SJW poster.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't think you would end up marrying a marine if you aren't cringe already but maybe I am wrong.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

most likely. Every US marine I've ever met told me their name and that they were a marine every single time when first meeting them. It's always funny when I find out they were a cook, engineer, or a reserve that's never seen combat.

Finally!! Lara and Sam being canon was something editorial robbed us of.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Oh man wait until gamers learn about Touhou
