“Zebra striping” means alternating between alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to halve consumption.

Economic concerns (alcohol isn't free) and focusing on health and anxiety reduction are the stated reasons.

I guarantee if this trend exists a statistically irrelevant portion of those doing it have ever even heard the term “zebra striping”

I mean, the economic & health solution is "don't drink".
But if you want to drink less, drinking less is a good solution. Like - just off the top of my head - I dunno, something along the lines of alternating between alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Easy 50% reduction in consumption (tho, more expensive if your intent is to get smashed), can enjoy the buzz of being drunk for longer, stay hydrated and reduce the hangover.
