I find Lemmy to be best on mobile/tablet tbh, primarily with Voyager or Eternity

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

I'm using sync and yes, lemmy works best on mobile

I'm using https://alexandrite.app, aside from the fact that it's very clean it lets you open posts without leaving your feed which is awesome. I spend most of my time on mobile though, and for that I use Liftoff.

this is literally why i use alaxandrite

Currently enjoying the Eternity experience. It is still being developed and reshaped for Lemmy as it was off of the Infinity for Reddit project, but the UI is quite please.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I was an Infinity for Reddit user for years and I loved it. I'm so pleased its now working on Lemmy as Eternity. Sync was ok, but Eternity for Lemmy just feels like home, it's great.

Sync on mobile

I switched to Photon: https://phtn.app/

But both are nice

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

photon looks very clean, but the reason i'm not using it is because there is alot of space wasted, like if you're on a quite big resolution, there will be alot of blank space, also when you click on a post, you have to move your mouse to the top left to go back to the home page

even tho its quite inefficient, it might looks good on a phone

Maybe check out Tesseract? It's a Photon fork and specifically addresses those issues and also supports embedded media.

Try the new compact view. Looks a lot better.

You can also use your system's back button. I'm not sure where I'd put a back button.

In Alexandrite, is there a way to link to users or communities other than typing the link manually using markdown syntax? For example, in the official Lemmy frontend, typing ! begins a search for matching community names; I don't know if there is similar functionality for usernames.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

As far as I know, no, there's no autocomplete for that. But you don't have to write the whole link, just writing the community name (like [email protected]) or the user (like @[email protected]) and it should turn them into links automatically.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ah, interesting! They do both turn into links on Alexandrite, but on the official frontend and on Photon only the community does (the user stays as plain text).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That's weird, because that's the official way to tag someone. So even if it doesn't turn into a link, the user should be notified.

Alexandrite too on desktop, love the columnar layout. I’ve not had any problems with it at all … what are the bugs you’ve found?

On mobile I just go with default web ui.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

look at this (if you see cloudflare argo tunnel errors, thats probably mean i turned my laptop off)

i assume its my addon's issue but i dont really know which one, or it just the website itself

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Haven't seen that error before. I got couldnt_find_that_username_or_email (status 400). I did a search for the username and nothing turned up either.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

I really enjoy Thunder

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I use photon.lemmy.world.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

On mobile. I switch between Sync and Connect. Voyager is a close second. The other android apps don't fit my visual or functional needs as well.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I personnaly use the default one, with vaporwave-light's theme

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

photon on desktop and Eternity on my phone

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Eternity is excellent! I didn't like it at first because it seemed cluttered, but after using it for a while, it's become my favourite Android client!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago

Used Infinity before reddit killed it so this was the most logical decision for me

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I use liftoff app.. Don't use it on web should I change?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I second this comment. It's a good UI, so it's the one I will stick with.

wefwef/voyager and thunder app

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Jerboa on mobile, haven't played around with desktop much.
