Russia has been advancing quickly over last 2 months. They are likely to circle Pokrovsk for another month before assaulting it. It is on a hill, and like the Neocon/NAFO fearmongering that "Kyiv would be taken in 3 days" and Russia is weak for failing, calling an imminent assault on Pokrovsk is propaganda to set up "Ukraine are valiant warriors for still holding it" next week, and "Russia must surrender for its failure"

They really need to get a new line, I've been hearing about "key cities" and "faltering manpower" for two years now. Seems these eastern settlements aren't very key to anything, and there's plenty of Ukrainians still up in Kursk though.

Pokrovsk is important because it's a logistical hub.
