Again. debord-tired

This "Galt's Gulch" shit has been tried over and over and over again, including in Puerto Rico after the big hurricane a few years back. Each time, it typically fails before the first structures are built and the griftiest grifter runs off with the money. Because Enlightened Self Interest, praise Rand. galaxy-brain

What basic necessity of modern civilization will they fuck up or straight up forget this time? In New Hampshire it was garbage collection, in Chile it was basic sewage sanitation. I hope it’s something new and funny

I'm praying for roads. Like they're gonna make a hyperloop that works even worse than elsewhere or they're gonna make some sort of weird privatized solution to asphalt that just fucks up the paving immediately

Reminds me of the story with the roaming bears in a city that did some weird libertarian policy/program. There is a book about it called a "Libertarian walks into a Bear" Not sure if the books is any good but the real story is funny (or a bit unsettling) if you know about it.

Oh, I know that one.

The "Galt's Gulches" I mentioned were all attempts to start brand-new colonial fever dreams in a vacant area, and pretty much none of them got past the financing phase before the most Enlightened Self-Interested One ran off with the money.

There were some people who tried building a governmental body without taxes. They failed so spectacularly that they had to throw it away and start over. And their most agreed upon takeaway was that taxes were inevitable. They then created such a successful state apparatus that generations later they were essentially worshiped as deities, even by the classes who were not represented by the state. Nowadays, the state civil religion refers to them as The Founding Fathers.

A body without taxes is like an ancap reading of deleuze right?

We already know how this will turn out: Half of the city is going to get bogged down in never ending lawsuits from fucking eachother over, and the other half is going to get eaten by bears.

the other half is going to get eaten by bears.

Remember when they were baselessly claiming that the Chinese government was behind this to spy on Travis Air Force Base? Wonder if those “journalists” will face any consequences for their rabid racism

15,000 per acre sounds unusually cheap, especially for California. That's about $10 million per square mile.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago

It is even cheap for bad land.
