Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Many people are saying Alzheimer's/dementia

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Man, woman, person, camera, tv

It's been dementia since like 2016. He's just now started obviously publicly sundowning.

“Surely a political press corps that spent months arguing that President Biden’s age rendered him mentally unfit, wouldn’t look the other way when the Republican candidate, the oldest person to run for president in American history, is not only old but decompensating before our very eyes,” she continued. “The difference of course is that Biden is aging while Donald is dementing.”

Decompensating?

Decomposing?

Decompiling?

Decompressing?

Violently relaxing, like an egg in the vacuum of space

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

That is poetry.

Another big difference, Biden surrounds himself with competent people who are there to do a job. Trump surrounds himself with yesmen there to pilfer what they can and increase their status in the cult.

Because at this point the person running doesn't matter to them. It's literally a vote between democracy and fascism, and it astounds me how many people are willing to throw their vote to fascism over a single issue

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They think they’ll get to be the fascists, but it’s only going to be the billionaires and many millionaires who’ll benefit.

A quote form Occupied Paris, circa 1943.

"It isn't the big Hitler in Paris that makes life unbearable; it's the million little Hitlers living in Paris."

Can you believe F*x news tried to make the Weave™ into a good thing? lol

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Better known as The Meander (TM), LOL.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Yes, yes I can.

You know how his rallies are mostly empty. It would be wild if Democrats started packing in to his rallies overwhelming the MAGA presence. And then start the heckling.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That's the last fucking thing I want to do. I want MAGAs to just go back into the hole the crawled out of.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think they did that after WW2 instead of having a symbol carved on them, so everyone know what they stand for. I'd rather know who I'm talking to, so I can not care about their opinion.

hurr durr Nazis gave the Jews tattoos. Anti-fascists are the actual Nazis!

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

They are not going to put themselves in a hole. They will need help.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

It's definitely possible, I mean...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's a good way to get shot, though.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

By who? The only ones with guns are secret service.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Their guns are in their cars. The cars that will be following you home.

Well, I'm glad to see that the lemmy consensus is that maga supporters are not armed, nor are they angry enough to inflict violence on people who turn up to heckle their cult leader. Good to know.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

I mean they're a famously kind-hearted and pacifist group that respects opposing views

Let's say for the sake of argument that all of this is true. Donald Trump isn't in cognitive decline, he doesn't ramble, everything he says is carefully crafted and he says exactly what he means to. Those who criticize his speaking as gibberish or nonsense are just not paying attention to context. Let's assume for the moment that all of this is true.

I still don't want him as president. Why should I? I would still vote for a vat of warm, moldy pudding before I vote for him.

Not because I think he's too old. Not because I think he's senile. *Because his ideas are abhorrent. *

I find it absolutely ludicrous that anyone would believe that the best way to reduce corruption in politics is by electing the visibly corrupt. Or that the best way to get corporate money out of politics is by literally electing corporate money. Do the Christians in his thrall need reminding that not committing adultery is one of those commandments they're so keen on putting in schools and courthouses? I'm embarrassed to share a country with these people.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 month ago

Many Christian’s have their head so far up their ass they don’t stop to think about what their actually voting for. All they care about is ending abortion or stopping gay people from doing literally anything. They are essentially single issue voters.

I had to double-check that i wasn't looking at a The Onion article.
