Honestly, I'm starting to feel uneasy about the machines that I have booted Ventoy on.

To sum up from the other discussion: the dev disappeared 5 months ago in china (i think), and appeared suddenly, speaking only in Chatgpt responses, to defend the use of opaque proprietary components in the software. Dont use Ventoy.
also, a few months ago, Veronica from the Veronica Explains Youtube channel got harassed by people in comments over not mentioning Ventoy when talking about creating a bootable ISO. freaking weird.
Thanks for the heads-up!
Do you think we are looking at UEFI or Intel ME rootkit here?
I had an interesting case of a five-year-old laptop that I know they had previously used Ventoy on. After repairing the hardware and clean Win10 install, the BIOS update software (Windows executable) reported that the BIOS update was not necessary, even though it shows as several versions behind what's available on HP's website.
My expertise is mainly in hardware It's my understanding that with UEFI, we can't simply dump the BIOS with something like an SPI programmer and compare to a fresh BIOS image (which I don't have either because it's now rolled into a proprietary Win exe from HP anyway).
Could be, theres a lot of speculation on the open issue in the ventoy github.
Appreciate very much for xposting here, the other post was removed by accident. Thank you for your continuous support of Ventoy!
If you really are the developer, why comment here and not github?
Accident? Mod logs are public here. It was removed for "probable impersonation".
