WPengine is a piece of shit service preying on entry level WP users and mediocre developers without the skills to avoid getting locked on a platform that makes money out of their limitations and ignorance.
It offers nothing of value and now they are acquiring elemental plug-ins like ACF to have a stronger grip on WP installations.
I hated them 10 years ago. It took too long to expose what they really are: freeloaders taking advantage of both the ignorant and the open source community.
Watching web developers react to this change on mastodon has been... interesting to say the least
Imma go back to Joomla.
There seems to be a problem with the use of naming rights here. It's a big problem for users.
