Maybe you’re looking for mastodon.

Yeah, def sounds more like a Mastadon use case.

i use mastodon for a long time now but i thought lemmy was a social network too, but now it seems more like news website that organizes news in categories.

Sounds like you figured it out.

That is still a growing aspect of Lemmy. There are a few communities that may be interesting to you, such as [email protected] or [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], and probably some others. You can also find some active fandoms by searching, as well as some lifestyle communities (like [email protected])

Honestly I pretty much just use Lemmy to see the good old fashioned memes. Like everyone is saying, mastodon is the one if you want to follow people.

I use it like a forum, browsing by all sorted by "new comments."

I usually click the icon on my phone and it opens, but ymmv...

Just kidding. Click search, find a topic that interests you and hit subscribe. Then you should be able to go to your settings and make only your subscriptions show up on your landing/home page

It's simple, I use it.

Sarcasm aside, I hop on it every few days to see what new stuff Lemmy is talking about, comment a few things, then move on. Return to reply to replies, rinse and repeat for a few days until I'm in the mood to browse Lemmy again.

Casually. I poke around whatever pops up but don't take it too seriously. I usually learn about some other event that I look deeper into.
