CATCH A RIIIIIDE
Jack Black as a mouthy robot makes the most sense. Actually, that’s the only one that makes any sense at all.
Kinda.... but they had the original voice actor to choose from. I'm willing to bet Noone has ever said "Oh let's go see the latest Jack Black film"
I have, but it’s been a minute.
Hollywood will never use the OVA for a character unless they were already a Hollywood star.
That one, I'll grant you.
Looks like absolute trash.
…and these are the best parts.
I read your comment and then watched it… I feel like that’s a little hyperbolic lol
I am not particularly interested in seeing this movie regardless. It’s not really a joke I need to see for two hours on the screen.
Coming after the brilliance of Fallout is doing Borderlands no favors at all, lol
I was assured that Fallout would suck too. I (Although you all are almost certainly right about this adaptation.)
Still, I'm still looking forward to watching it and making up my own mind.
They messed this up so badly. :(
Every time I hear about it it's "Look at all the famous actors we got" and that's killing my hope
Well that looks like total fucking shit. Not sure who they made this for, but it's not the fans. Kevin Hart? Jack Black? Fuck sake
As someone who likes Jack Black, I apologise.
Nobody asked for this
Is this supposed to make me want to watch it? A robot shitting his brains out?
They couldnt even just keep the same voice for Claptrap from the games... such low hanging fucking fruit for the nostalgia points and they fucked that up.
Well yeah they didn't keep the same voice in Borderlands 3 so they certainly won't do it in a film adaptation.
I mean that is pretty par for the course with borderlands. They had a whole sequence in Borderlands 2 where Hammerlock gets annoyed and calls some monster he wants to name “Bonerfart” and then the mission objective is “kill 5 bonerfarts.” so yeah the sequence is a little juvenile/over the top, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen in borderlands 100 times. That’s pretty much the entire shtick. Juvenile violence and “lol random!!11!!!”
I say this as somebody who has many great memories of playing borderlands 1 and 2. Though, I just don’t think this is going to be good no matter how they spin it. It’s not a setting I ever wanted to see turned into film to begin with.
I don't expect this movie to win alot of Academy Awards but this seems on-brand for Claptrap.
Were you expecting more from such a highbrow game franchise?
The joke itself isn't off-brand, but the fact its dragged out for so long is. Borderland's humor isn't exactly clever, but its at least fairly fast paced so you aren't left sitting there on the same awful joke.
Also, keep in mind that if they're including this in multiple trailers, they think this is one of the highlights of the movie - that is the more concerning point.
A dumb thing done quickly is funny. They draw this out like it's peter griffin after scraping his knee. It's just painfully unfunny.
Plus the knee scrape was at least self aware. It way overstays it's welcome on purpose and then overstays even more making it funny again. Only works the first time you watch it though.
Good points.
I guess I'm just sick of all the pre-hate from people who have probably never created a single thing in their entire lives.
Personally I'm looking forward to smoking a bowl, ordering a pizza, and watching the stupid movie.

def the only way I'd watch this, but only if it's already on streaming I have. this cut is also so devoid of all the things that makes the game great, it makes me wonder if there's a lot more but the promotion is afraid to embrace the borderlands WTFery
Well... there goes the glimmer of hope I had.
played 1&2 back in the day so... ok.. well....
this tiny clip fails to sell much beyond claptrap, and I'm kinda.... eh....
Looks like they are going to figure out it has to be a good adaptation in order to succeed. Again.
This is gonna bomb.
If Furiosa can't do well at the box office, how is this going to?
"The fate of the universe could be in their hands - but they'll be fighting for something more: each other"
I hope they play in traffic and lose.
That's extremely upsetting.
Borderlands was fun but the story was boring and characters were so annoying, especially later in the franchise. I don't see why I would want Borderlands but with all of the gameplay removed, if it's executed perfectly it will still be terrible.
