I mean, this technology existed for literally decades, it’s called photogrammetry. The team here just seems to be doing photogrammetry using AI, which has also existed for a very long time.
Can I get a source for existing ones? Had a quick look and didn't find anything that spits out an editable 3d object.
Certainly not a new idea. You can install a free copy of Meshroom on your pc. Take a ton of photos of an object from multiple angles, dump them into the software, and let it process for a few hours. It will create a workable mesh you can use for additional modeling and 3d printing.
AI had working 3d models in just seconds previously. Not sure about editing though, but this has that. Sure beats waiting a few hours if it's nearly instant.
