Literally the opposite of the Constitution.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 7 months ago

Not like this fool has ever read it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

That political party twists the Constitution like they twist the bible to fit their narrative.

[–] [email protected] 73 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Obviously knows neither the spirit nor the letter of established law...Texas huh? Yeah, that tracks.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (3 children)

We have a law in Texas that an Atheist can't hold office. Really stupid, but it would have to be challenged to get rid of it.

edit: went and looked it up

Article 1, Section 4 of the Texas Constitution states, "No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall anyone be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being."

[–] [email protected] 10 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I'll gladly acknowledge the existence of a supreme being; my tuxedo cat is very supreme.

...we don't have to say which being is supreme, right?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 7 months ago

I like your moxie. You've got my vote.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

By that verbage, claiming to be pastafarian meets those requirments.

Would pay good money to see a official painting of someone with a collander on their head.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Technically a Satanist does too.

edit: though you'd have to "really believe"

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Just to be clear that's unconstitutional. That law has no force or effect.

Torcaso v. Watkins, 367 U.S. 488 (1961)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (3 children)

Yes, it's unconstitutional....buuut, the shitty way our political system works, somebody would have to sue to get it removed in Texas. Until someone does, they're going to enforce it.

edit: in Texas

Texas huh? Yeah, that tracks.

Actually we're our own country and we get to do what we want.

[–] [email protected] 58 points 7 months ago (6 children)

Tell me we're gonna get another version of this beautiful moment.

[–] [email protected] 38 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Those slow-blinks as he grapples with what the host just said. That is priceless.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Seeing his brain literally short circuit. It's cartoonishly perfect.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 months ago

He would have made an audible "durrrrrrhuh?" noise, but even sound was impossible in that long moment

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago
[–] [email protected] 23 points 7 months ago

Every single interview with Republicans (and Democrats) should include the host correcting their stupid lies.

I added and Democrats, but we all know the ratio of who is going to be called out for blatant lies.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 months ago

I totally forgot about that slow blink of realization.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 7 months ago

I was hoping this was the bi bull video. :p I love it.

“Ohhh noooo, I swore on an a bi bull, I done it three times Jay.”

Dude has like 4 brain cells and they’re all busting their ass to hold his face in a way that doesn’t make him look stupid and they’re doing a terrible job of it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

Ever since this video, I've been pronouncing the word bible the way this guy does, around the house.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

He done it three times, Jay.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 7 months ago (2 children)

“The first biblical command for all rulers and all persons in authority is to worship God,” Schaefer said. “It’s all over the Bible."

Oh, the Bible says one must worship the god of the Bible? Shocking!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

I act the way I act because the Good Book tells me so

If I wanna known how to be good, it's to the Good Book that I go

'Cos the Good Book is a book and it is good and it's a book

There's no reason why we should take a look

At any other book

But the Good Book

'Cause it's good

And it's a book

And it's a book

And it's quite good!

Good is good and evil's bad

And kids get killed when God gets mad

And you'd better take a good look

At the Good Book

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Go ahead. Try and argue with that. You can't.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

Hallelujah! I've seen the light!

[–] [email protected] 38 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (7 children)

You know, if they actually followed the moral teachings laid out in the Bible - the spirit, not the letter - I'd almost be okay with this. The problem is that the vast majority of these self-proclaimed Christians don't. Not even remotely close.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 7 months ago

It's a control apparatus and nothing more... They know it just as well as we do

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 months ago

They are very much Christians and their book is fucked, even if you try to find a moral in it. What's the moral of a guy being fucked with by his god and being told to murder his own child? Or the moral of a man offering his daughters to a bunch of rapists, or the moral of a bunch of kids getting killed by a bear cause they made fun of a guy being bald? It's a weird ass book through and through

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 months ago

I just assumed the God they were always talking about was money. You're telling me it's something else?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 7 months ago

Do you have any daughters to sell? Please post pictures.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 7 months ago

You know, if they actually followed the moral teachings laid out in the Bible - the spirit, not the letter - I'd almost be okay with this.

Have you read the Bible? It's pretty horrific all the way through. Any good is pretty well overshadowed. The spirit and the letter are awful.

Turn the other cheek, but also buy your slaves from the heathen that surround you and feel free to beat them with a rod as long as they don't die immediately.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

They have no idea what's in that book.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

But it's the good book!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

the spirit, not the letter

Idk, man. I could totally go for some of that liturgically mandated Jesus Style Socialism right about now.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 7 months ago

"Yes, that one."

-Matt Schaefer

[–] [email protected] 30 points 7 months ago (1 children)

"to worship god"???
Is it Priapus? Is it?
Please tell me it is, because that is a very BIG deal.
I'm in!!!!!

[–] [email protected] 10 points 7 months ago

If we are supposed to worship Priapus, why do we beat his symbol until it shrinks, defeated?

[–] [email protected] 20 points 7 months ago

The Founders were VERY clear on both being allowed to Shoot Up Schools AND on everyone being REQUIRED to Worship God! I LOVE the Constitution!

[–] [email protected] 15 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Can I pick the god and the manner of worship?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 7 months ago (1 children)
  1. Nothing
  2. Nothing

This guy snorts bath salts, guaranteed.

Texas and Florida in a race to the bottom

[–] [email protected] 5 points 7 months ago

Okay, but Matt Schaefer needs to clearly state which god he's worshiping first. And if its the wrong god, we get to burn him as a heretic.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 7 months ago

He's not going to read the constitution when he doesn't even read the bible

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago

Welp... you're allowed to have your opinion, Matty Boy, you're allowed to express that opinion. But enacting that opinion would be in explicit contravention of the US Constitution. Given that you're from Texas, Matt, I can understand being guided more by feelings and not wanting to read, but it's just the First Amendment, you won't even have to go very far. I believe in you buddy, give it a read, then go shut the fuck up.

I wonder which church he goes to and if they ever endorse a specific person or party that would be grounds to revoke their tax exempt status? Might be worth attending a few local churches this year as an 'out of towner' to record the homily on your phone, you know just to listen to later.
