It's hard to really illustrate to younger generations exactly how profoundly stupid George W. Bush is.

[–] dudinax 20 points 6 months ago (1 children)

No he wasn't, he was evil and deluded.

[–] [email protected] 36 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Evil, deluded, and profoundly stupid are not mutually exclusive.

[–] dudinax 15 points 6 months ago (1 children)

He isn't stupid. His public personality was all an act. Go watch a video of him before he became a politician. He's smart, mean, and talks with North East accent.

I've met him many times while he was Governor. Super nice guy but definitely a bit dim. Let's agree to disagree.

PS: I liked him a lot more than Rick Perry though. That guy is a massive douche.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 months ago

I mean, part of that was his political strategy. He knew exactly what he was doing.

[–] [email protected] 54 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Oh shit, he did

Time to become even atheister

[–] [email protected] 20 points 6 months ago (3 children)

The atheisterest?

Scientist: "Hey, I think this thing."

Other Scientist: "Time to become anti-science."

GWB and I are, charitably, not comparable even in metaphor to any two scientists

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 months ago (1 children)

More like:

Scientist: "Hey, I think this thing."

Scientist: goes on to commit atrocities in the name of thing

Other Scientist: "Jesus Christ!"

[–] Isoprenoid 3 points 6 months ago

You forgot the absurd punchline.

Other Scientist: "Jesus Christ. I guess we shouldn't study science because this is what we get from it."

Maybe he believed it, maybe not.

My take is that Bush was trying to sell the WMD bullshit so hard he wouldn't be above telling allies that he could make flying monkeys shoot out of his ass if he thought that it would get him any support for his war to enrich defense contractors.

Always follow the money.

In my country the most famous news anchor in the most watched news broadcast stated that Saddam Hussein was the third antichrist according to Nostradamus profecies.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 6 months ago (2 children)

3rd anti-christ? What like they think god has to try multiple times to make his own 'prophesy' to come true?

DJT is the anti-christ. He can fullfill almost every related 'prophesy', there is a website that collated them all. It is kinda freaky

[–] [email protected] 8 points 6 months ago

I don't remember the details but apparently Nostradamus profetized the coming of 3 or more antichrists, is his own thing, not really a canonically Christian thing. But the news anchor sure knew that people wouldn't really check, specially during those days where Internet wasn't a thing.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Isn't the antichrist supposed to decide most Christians? If that's the case it would be DJT

He's definitely turned himself into the golden calf at the very least.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Absolutely terrifying that such a man was in charge of post-911 USA

[–] [email protected] 24 points 6 months ago (1 children)

And it's even more horrifying that a significant chunk of the US population apparently actually believes shit like this.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 6 months ago (1 children)

And it's even more horrifying that the guy they have now makes Dubya look downright reasonable.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago

It’s a nickname for George W. Bush. The pronunciation of ‘W’ like ‘dubya’ is common in the Texan accent.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 6 months ago

Yep. Reagan believed the second advent was to come in his time and he was ready to blow the godless Soviets to kingdom come. Stillson from The Dead Zone was inspired off him (Played by Martin Sheen, so a younger, bizarro-world Jed Bartlet)

Only, the USSR wouldn't first strike. And Reagan wasn't willing to kickoff the ball game, even when his peacekeeper missile was ready.

Life went on and George H. W. Bush went on to condemn atheists as unamerican, himself a true believer. So the nut doesn't fall too far from the tree.
