It had been in the works for a while, but now it has formally been adopted. From the article:

The regulation provides that by 2027 portable batteries incorporated into appliances should be removable and replaceable by the end-user, leaving sufficient time for operators to adapt the design of their products to this requirement.

Reversing course to what we already had in the past. Flip phones are making a comeback, removable batteries, what feature will come back next? Headphone jack? MicroSD?

I certainly want a MicroSD slot and a headphone jack on any phone I buy. These are features I use. A lot.

Enjoy your Sony phones and, uh, nope just Sony... :( RIP my LG V60

Edit: if you want flagship processors with your headphone jack and microSD. Zenfone 10 lost the card slot. Motorolla has some compelling phones but usually with a lower tier processor.

Wouldlove if both come back, even if it means phones that aren't as waterproof.

Not that you can't make a waterproof phone with those features.
