In other words, an insanely profitable global tech conglomerate is targeting a tiny little subset of their users in order to piss them off, specifically.

I can't fathom how they think this is a good idea. Are they that desperate that they need to start an arms race against a population of users that already generate 0.000000% of revenue in order to gain 0.000001%‽

If anything this move is likely to draw attention to ad blockers, informing more people that they exist and how awesome they are.
