Welcome

Welcome to c/[email protected]. Broadly, this community is a place to discuss veganism. Discussion on intersectional topics related to the animal rights movement are also encouraged.

What is Veganism?

'Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals ...'

— abridged definition from The Vegan Society

MODERATORS

I'm too lazy to cook and to follow complicated recipes, I'm the kind of guy who is more driven by feelings and vibes when I cook. Anyway, the recipe is: a jar of jackfruit. Ratatouille (bought, from a jar) How to: Boil the jackfruit in the ratatouille for a while (30-40 minutes?) When it is cooked: Add Bbq sauce (bought in the supermarket, obviously). Vegan cheese. Alfalfa sprouts (haha, that's what cows eat. Haha what a funny guy you are, dear flatmate). That's it. I'm so proud of myself, please give me validation.

Nice and simple! Did you think about any improvements while enjoying it? Did it seem like it could benefit from marinading in the bbq sauce before cooking?

I think next time I'll cook it in soy sauce or vegetable stock with a few drops of liquid smoke. It was very good, but it was too "liquidy" and messy to eat. I still need to do more research with jackfruit, I really liked the texture.

You could also try some nutritional yeast for that umami / savory boost without adding more salt or liquid.
